Bet 1: PSG to Win
For the last seven years, the Champions League winner has gone on to lift the Super Cup. And, unsurprisingly, that little trend carried on last year, with PSG seeing off Tottenham.
Now, I’ll be honest… 4/5 on PSG has surprised me.
Villa have lost some seriously important players this summer, with Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and Youri Tielemans all heading out the door.
PSG, meanwhile, still have an absolutely filthy attack, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia expected to feature on Wednesday. The Georgian bagged four goals against English opposition last season, so Villa's defenders should be on high alert.
Sorry Villa fans, but I’m siding with Luis Enrique’s boys here.
Bet 2: Marco Bizot 4+ Saves
Emiliano Martinez is unlikely to start in goal given he was part of the Argentine side that reached the World Cup final.
Dutchman Marco Bizot is expected to get the nod, and he should be in for a busy night.
When these two sides met in the Champions League quarter-finals last season, Villa racked up 12 goalkeeper saves across the two legs.
Twelve.
If PSG dominate possession as expected and Villa manage to create a few chances on the break, 4+ Bizot saves looks well worth a poke.
Bet 3: Over 4.5 PSG Corners
One pre-match stat which stood out to me was the fact PSG have taken over 10.5 corners in three of their last six competitive matches… that’s a lot of corners.
With the French champions expected to spend plenty of the evening camped in Villa territory, I’m expecting the corner flag to get plenty of attention.
Luis Enrique’s side love to dominate the ball, push their full-backs forward and pile pressure onto the opposition.
And when you’ve got players like Kvaratskhelia causing chaos out wide, corners tend to follow.
At 8/15, I’m not exactly asking for the earth here.
