Bet 1: Luton Town to be Promoted

Leicester, Leicester, Leicester. Is anyone else sick of hearing about the Foxes?

It might be 10 years since Gary Lineker appeared on MOTD in his undies to celebrate their title win, but when it comes to League One promotion odds, I prefer to look elsewhere.

My NAP for promotion comes in the form of Luton Town, who have been priced at 11/5 to return to the Championship.

Jack Wilshere has done well since taking over as manager, even going on a 10-match unbeaten run at one point. The former Arsenal man came close to the play-offs last season but ultimately ran out of games.

With an EFL Trophy under his belt and a couple of shrewd signings completed – Kasey Palmer and Harrison Ashby – I really fancy the Hatters to do well.

Bet 2: Huddersfield Town to be Promoted

I was watching the Carabao Cup first round clash between Plymouth and Exeter last Monday, and it really got me thinking about The Pilgrims.

Tom Cleverley’s side enjoyed an unbelievable second half of the season last year, taking the third most points, scoring the third most goals and boasting the fourth best defence.

Priced at 4/1, I seriously considered backing Plymouth for promotion… but there is one big problem.

The club have lost last season’s top scorer Lorient Tolaj and are on the brink of losing their second top scorer, Aribim Pepple.

With that in mind, I’m turning my attention to Huddersfield Town.

The club saw major investment for the 2025/26 season, though managerial instability prevented a promotion push.

Rookie coach Martin Drury is currently in charge. Despite his lack of experience, he does have a top squad at his disposal, which was just boosted by the arrival of Ashley Fletcher – a striker who bagged 21 goals for Blackpool last season.
