Dubai World Cup Betting Tips
For the rest of the big day, full racecards will be available soon via the Dubai Racing Club, but we’re not hanging around. We’ve already lined up some early Dubai World Cup racing tips, taking two against the field in the ante-post market.
An Emperor’s New Crown?
In a former life, Imperial Emperor was second-favourite for the Derby. Now a six-year-old gelding and with World Cup-winning trainer Bhupat Seemar, he is maturing nicely and recently became a Group 1 winner at Meydan. He has the class, the toughness and the experience.
Laurel to provide another Riverdance in the desert?
Bhupat Seemar really does improve horses coming from other yards. A former American runner, Laurel River was taken on, sharpened and strengthened by Seemar before the 2024 running which he won in style. He was injured just before last year’s renewal, but even at eight years old, he’s still a major talent and is overpriced.
We need an honourable mention for Knightsbridge. Just like Sovereignty, who we’d have backed had it not been for him being unlikely to make this race, this five-year-old represents American Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott and, crucially, Dubai World Cup organisers the Maktoum family. He breezed faster than any horse in training a week before his impressive Pegasus World Cup Day success. He is ready for Group 1’s, but hasn’t been introduced into the odds just yet.
How We Select Our Dubai World Cup Picks
Dubai World Cup tips need to be more than a beginner’s guide. When we go hunting for winners on the second-richest raceday in the world, we don’t just skim the surface.
Only the very best compete on Dubai World Cup night, with top trainers travelling their horses all the way to the UAE. We look at just how good they are with a deep dive.
Most horses competing will have an international Flat rating. There are weight concessions, such as the female sex allowance. We check the ratings versus weight carried, looking for betting opportunities.
We need more than a rating; a horse’s overall profile tells us plenty more. We look at past form, age, and also their bloodline for clues.
Several Dubai World Cup winners have matured later than normal for Flat horses. We see ratings and ability as fluid – horses can keep getting better or can, perhaps, start to go backwards.
Some trainers and jockeys are simply better than their peers. We look for ability in the human element, as well as experience on the dirt and turf tracks at Meydan.
Horses have varying levels of ability, but even if they are top-class, they may not have the speed or the stamina over the required distance. Form and breeding tell us what we need to know.
A horse skipping round the tight bends of Gulfstream Park in Florida may not like the wider bends of Meydan. We look for clues on how the track will affect performance.
On Dubai World Cup night, there will be races on two different tracks at various distances. If it rains, the dirt track will become faster, while the turf course becomes slower. Don’t worry, we’re on it.

Our top pick for Dubai World Cup betting: William Hill
Gary Christie: William Hill is already rated highly for horse racing betting, but being one of the earliest to display ante-post Dubai World Cup odds boosted them further. This is one of the most trusted brands, offering everything you’d want.
Most Popular Dubai World Cup Betting Markets
Betting on Dubai World Cup Night markets is fiercely competitive. Below, we break down the most popular bet types that the professionals focus on when the lights come on at Meydan.
The most basic, and still the best. Backing your horse to win gives the biggest thrill. Alternatively, take an each-way bet and back the ‘win’ and the ‘place’ in one.
While spread betting and other alternatives aren’t really the way to go a Meydan, ante-post markets will be hot. Bets are placed in advance of the event, usually at bigger odds. Look out for any ‘non-runner, no bet deals’, to ensure you get your money back if your horse doesn’t run.
Doubles, trebles, 4-folds and more are accommodated, especially when there are some short-priced favourites on the card.
Though you won’t have as much time after the off as you would, say at the Cheltenham Festival, you will get to see the horses leave the gates before making a choice.
Dubai World Cup Racecard
Dubai World Cup entries and odds haven’t been announced in full yet. Based on previous years, this is how we expect things to line up at Meydan Racecourse, though the exact race order and times will be confirmed soon.

What are the odds Dubai World Cup winners come from a certain territory? Well Saeed bin Suroor and Bhupat Seemar, with four wins between them in 10 years, both train in Dubai over the winter, with the Americans winning four of the other 10 renewals.
Meydan Racecourse Tips
When we come up with our Dubai World Cup picks, the track layout plays its part. For jockeys, riding on both tracks takes tactical awareness, timing and balance. The cream really rises at Meydan.
On the dirt track, horses need to be able to handle the kickback, meaning only those experienced on such surfaces do well in the biggest races. On the round turf course, the straight is long, meaning horses must see out the full distance, making patience key. On the dirt, careful fractions can be set from the front with the race won before the turn, just like with Laurel River in 2024.
