It’s the final Club World Cup games in Group E and Group F, and we’re looking ahead to see where the value lies in two of the most hotly contested groups of the competition.
In Group E, it’s all to play for at the top. River Plate, Inter Milan, and CF Monterrey can all progress with a win.
And it’s a similar case in Group F, where we have three going into two spots, as Fluminense, Dortmund, and Mamelodi Sundowns FS are all vying for a chance to make the knockout stages.

Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan Hyundai – Over 2.5 Cards 8/13
It’s probably fair to say that Dortmund have been a little lacklustre so far in the competition. A point against Fluminense in their opening game showed fatigue after a long, hard-fought domestic season.
They picked up against the Sundowns, but still had to come from behind to grind out a 4-3 win.
Ulsan Hyundai, on the other hand, head into the game with nothing to lose (or gain) after two defeats on the trot. They’ll be frustrated not to get something from the loss to Fluminense after leading 2-1 at half time, but ultimately, the gulf in class between the two teams shone through.
Dortmund should win this and win easily. But there’s been enough shocks so far in the FIFA Club World Cup to know that nothing is guaranteed, and odds of 2/9 for the Germans to win has “slip-up” written all over it.
Instead, our attention has been drawn towards the total cards market. MLS Referee Tori Penso takes charge of the game, averaging 3.4 yellows per game domestically and dished out five alone in the game between Al-Ain and Juventus.
Dortmund’s frustrating start has seen two cards in each of their opening two games, and Ulsan have committed 47 fouls in their last five matches, with three yellows so far in the Club World Cup.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense – Fluminense to Win 1/1
The second game of Group F has a lot more riding on it, with qualification and elimination on the table for both teams still. Fluminense need a win or a draw, and Mamelodi Sundowns must win to guarantee their spots in the Last 16.
The Sundowns have been one of the more impressive teams in the competition for us. They ground out a solid 1-0 win over Ulsan, before almost causing a massive upset by beating Dortmund, only to eventually run out of steam and lose 4-3.
Fluminense have been equally solid. A comfortable 4-2 win over Ulsan followed a dogged 0-0 with Dortmund. They’ve not been in great form domestically, languishing in seventh in the Brazilian Serie A, but have found just enough to make them a dangerous opposition in the Club World Cup.
What’s been most impressive about Fluminense is their adaptability. They set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, emphasising a defensive mindset, but break on the counter with devastating effect, aided massively by Jaramillo and Jhon Arias up top.
It looks like a bridge too far for the Sundowns, but they will head back to South Africa with their heads held high. Even money on Fluminense looks like great value and is included in our FIFA World Club Cup accumulator.

Mamelodi Sundowns need a win to guarantee progression to the knockout stage, as a draw may not suffice depending on other results. A loss would likely eliminate them.
Inter Milan vs River Plate – Lautaro Martinez to Score Anytime 5/4
The game of the day is at Lumen Field, Seattle, where Inter Milan and River Plate go head to head to see who will top Group E.
It’s a little “after the Lord Mayor’s show” for Inter, coming into the tournament off the back of a crushing Champions League final defeat to PSG. But after a hard-fought point in their opener against Monterrey, they bounced back with a solid, if a little flat, win over Urawa Red Diamonds.
River Plate have matched the Italians blow for blow, with the same results against the same teams, albeit with a 3-1 win over Urawa Reds, meaning they sit top of the group on goal difference.
It’s got the hallmarks of an incredibly tight game and one that is tough to call in terms of a result.
However, we’ve been mightily impressed with the form of Inter’s talisman, Lautaro Martinez. He’s scored in both games so far and has ten in ten for international club games this season. Priced 5/4 to score anytime looks a good price and makes the most sense from one of the harder fixtures to call.
