The Eberechi Eze transfer saga is still ongoing. Eze has already played for Palace over the weekend, and his release clause has expired this Sunday. He’s still being courted by a number of teams, but Tottenham are the firm favourites.

Tottenham are the new favourites to claim Eberechi Eze's signature.

Eberechi Eze almost got off to a flying start last Sunday in the Premier League. For the second season in a row, Eze scored an opening-day free kick only for it to be ruled out due to a foul by VAR. A crazy stat, but it’s a clear indication of Eze’s consistency and quality.

Eze was a crucial part of winning Crystal Palace’s first-ever major trophies: the FA Cup and the Community Shield. He’s reportedly happy at Selhurst Park, but his future remains uncertain.

In a post-match interview, Oliver Glasner stated that all his players are 100% committed to the club and that Eze’s £68 million release clause has just expired, meaning it’s up to Palace to decide on Eze’s future.

A Trip Up the A12 to Tottenham

How have Tottenham managed to bottle a release clause! They’re still the favourites to strike a deal with the Englishman by the end of the window, but they’ve made it a bit harder for themselves.

Tottenham have been on the hunt for a number 10, and have renewed their long-term interest in Eze. Eze will be a good fit; exciting and Premier League proven, he’ll slot into that role very well. The expiry of his release clause meant that they’ll have to convince the Palace board to let him go, currently valued at over £70 million.

Can they do it? It’s a bit tricky, but Spurs have Champions League football, deep pockets and will likely force Palace’s hand into a transfer.

Remain the King in his Crystal Palace

Arguably Crystal Palace’s star man, Eze has been at the club for five years and is a mainstay. Oliver Glasner has already said that he plans to continue using Eze in matches, including a midweek clash in the Conference League this week.

Palace have been very good at keeping their players, just like Zaha, and so far, Marc Guehi. They could be good value to hold on to Eze, but it’s only a matter of time before Eze leaves, whether it’s this window or the next.

From an Eagle to a Gunner

Eze’s next best transfer is another North London club in Arsenal. This would be a huge step up for Eze, with a real chance of winning some more major silverware.

The main issue is that Arsenal would need to offload a few forward players, and with Ethan Nwaneri signing a new five-year deal, this is looking more and more unlikely. He did start out at Arsenal before being released at the age of 13.
