The 2025 Tour of Britain hits the road tomorrow, and the UK punters have more than just local pride to cheer on. Oscar Onley, the young Scotsman, is the favourite to win the whole thing.
Oscar Onley recorded a fourth-place finish in this summer’s Tour de France and even finished runner-up in last year’s Tour of Britain. He’s a serious contender, and we expect him to have a brilliant career ahead.
In a symbolic passing of the baton, Geraint Thomas is set to retire after his final Tour of Britain. The former Tour de France winner and multiple gold medallist will end his 19-year career at the end of the week. Will we see something magical? Here's hoping, but we wouldn’t bet on it, priced at 200/1.
It’s not all cut and dried, though; several teams and contenders will have a realistic shot of claiming the gold throughout the week.

Oscar Onley is Our Favourite
At 22, the Scotsman has swiftly gone from outsider to main threat, thanks to his consistency on punchy climbs and determination. After finishing second last year, he’ll want to go one better as a British rider. With the crowd pushing him on, a bet on Onley to win is definitely on the cards as a cycling betting prediction.
Romain Gregoire: The Dark Horse
Gregoire may not enjoy the same household name as Evenepoel or the home support of Onley, but the Frenchman is certainly a rising star. He’s developed a bit of a knack for explosive climbs and sharp finishes, which puts him in a strong position for the Tour of Britain. While we don’t think he’s at the level to win it yet, an each-way bet could be a good shout.
Remco Evenepoel: The Benchmark
Regarded as one of the best time-trialists of his generation, Remco Evenepoel is unsurprisingly one of the strongest riders on the tour. The Belgian has won loads of stages and races, as well as a handful of gold medals, so the Tour of Britain would be another competition to try and dominate.
