Now let’s look at our three value bets in detail.
EFL Championship: Coventry City vs Watford – Over 2.5 Goals (6/5)
Coventry City, who sit on top of the Championship table with seven wins and four draws from their 11 matches, host 12th placed Watford. Over 2.5 goals seems to be the best value bet for this one. Frank Lampard’s side have hit 31 league goals so far this season at a rate of 2.82 goals per game. Watford have averaged 1.18 per game and our stats hub tells us that 64% of Coventry's fixtures and 55% of Watford's games have exceeded 2.5 goals. We think that this one will have at least three goals.
EFL League One: Bolton Wanderers vs Cardiff City – BTTS: Yes (8/13)
Bolton host Cardiff and we are expecting goals at both ends. Cardiff top the table, having won eight from 12, scoring 21 goals and conceding 10. Seventh placed Bolton have hit 18 goals and shipped 15. 62% of Bolton’s matches have seen both sides on the scoresheet, and this has been the case in 42% of Cardiff’s games.
Bolton have consistently managed to score at home this season and Cardiff have frequently managed to score away. We think BTTS is a great addition to the acca.
EFL League Two – Swindon Town vs Colchester United: Swindon Win & BTTS: Yes (3/1)
Second placed Swindon Town host Colchester United and this is another fixture where our research tells us to expect goals. Swindon have scored 24 in 13 matches, conceding 19, while 14th placed Colchester have managed to find the net 21 times but have leaked 18 at the other end.
62% of Swindon’s games and a league high of 77% of Colchester’s games have seen both teams find the net. We expect Swindon to have too much for the visitors, but the data suggests goals at both ends. We think that bet365, one of the best football bookies in the UK, have been generous here. 3/1 is great value.
