Raheem Sterling is looking increasingly likely to leave Chelsea this month, and West London rivals Fulham are the current favourites for his signature.
Sterling Frozen Out at Blues
Sterling has endured a frustrating season after being deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea. The “Pensioners’” bloated squad has seen several established stars having to train away from the first team.
Sterling was out of favour throughout the reign of former boss Enzo Maresca. He spent last season on loan at Arsenal, making 28 appearances and scoring once; however, the former Liverpool and Manchester City player couldn’t nail down a regular place in the side. The departure of Maresca on New Year’s Day appears to have done little to change the former England forward’s situation, and he will look to move in January with a number of clubs showing interest.

So, where will Sterling end up? Will he get his move, or will he have to see the season out at Chelsea? Let’s look at the most likely destinations.
Fulham: Move to Local Rivals Could Suit All
In an ideal world, Sterling would prefer to stay in London. And Fulham could tick a lot of boxes for all parties. Cottagers boss Marco Silva has been very open about his ambitions to win a major trophy with Fulham. They made a good fist of the Carabao Cup but exited at the hands of holders Newcastle United in the quarterfinals. Their Premier League form has picked up considerably, and Silva will be targeting a tilt at the FA Cup.
This level of ambition could suit Sterling. And while the winger has played zero competitive football this season and would need time to get up to speed, he would provide options for Fulham in the wide positions and as a number 10.
Furthermore, both Sterling and Chelsea have expressed their preference for a permanent move. So, if Fulham are willing to stump up the cash, then this could happen.
Sterling to Remain at Chelsea: Winger Could Stay Put Despite Desire to Move
Maresca’s departure through the revolving door of the Chelsea managers’ office seems to have made little difference to Sterling’s situation. However, given the forward’s wages, the fact that he hasn’t played this season, his underwhelming loan spell at Arsenal, his age and the fee that Chelsea would demand, he is far from a risk-free purchase. A loan move to West Ham was dismissed by the Blues, and a permanent move seems to be the only acceptable option for both the club and the player, meaning he may remain at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham: Loan Move Turned Down
Nuno Espirito Santo is a manager under pressure. And, in a bid to boost his attacking options, an offer was made to take Sterling on loan. This was turned down and, as reported in Metro, Sterling is looking for a permanent move. If West Ham offer a permanent deal, then this transfer is not impossible. However, the Hammers’ plight looks desperate this season, and Sterling may not like the idea of a relegation battle.
Other Potential January Deals

As ever in January, there are a number of other deals being talked about. If you are looking for odds on specials, such as transfers and managerial sackings, then Parimatch tend to be prompt and consistent when it comes to displaying odds.
James Trafford’s future appears to be in the balance after spending much of his time on the bench since his move to Manchester City. Wolves are favourites for his signature; however, we don’t see much mileage in this one given how far Rob Edwards’ side are adrift at the bottom of the table. Pep Guardiola is also keen to keep hold of the former Burnley goalkeeper until at least the end of the season.
Another City player, Oscar Bobb, has been tipped to move to Germany, with a number of Bundesliga clubs keeping tabs on him. Borussia Dortmund have been credited with interest and City could be looking to offload if they sign Antoine Semenyo. This is one to watch.
Kobbie Mainoo has been tipped to leave Manchester United. He has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A, with Napoli among the clubs showing interest. However, after the departure of Ruben Amorim, things may change.
