England vs Ireland – Henry Pollock Anytime Scorer
England had been on an impressive run of form until their loss at Murrayfield last week ended a 12-match winning run. Ireland returned to winning ways, holding off Italy to win 20-13. We think that England will make home advantage count. Ireland are not quite the side they were a year ago and we think that Steve Borthwick’s side will rack up a win. We also think that Henry Pollock, who has been handed his first start, will make an impact. Pollock will start at No 8 at Twickenham, and we are backing him to mark the occasion with a try. Pollock went over against Wales last year when he came on as a replacement and became the youngest ever English player to score a try in the Six Nations. Wales vs Scotland- Handicap: Scotland –19
Scotland bounced back in style from their loss to Italy with a 31-20 win over England to take the Calcutta Cup. Scotland sit second in the table and Gregor Townsend’s side will be looking to go to Cardiff and come away with the win that will give them the second leg of the Triple Crown.
Wales have had a disastrous campaign so far following a loss to England with a 54-12 defeat to France. The French may be a fantastic side; however, the manner of the defeat will be of great concern to followers of Welsh rugby.
We think that Scotland will win by at least three converted scores in this one. So, we think that we can increase the odds by giving the Scots a 19-point handicap which will still see them come home with a little breathing space for the second leg of our Betfred treble.
France vs Italy – Handicap: France –27
France have played some great rugby so far to sweep aside both Ireland and Wales. Yes, the Welsh were poor last weekend but you can only beat what is in front of you and France did that convincingly. Italy were impressive winners over Scotland in the first round of matches and competed well against Ireland. However, we feel that the French, with Antoine Dupont directing operations, will have too much for them. We think that France are just getting into their stride and with home advantage we think that we can give them a 27-point hypothetical handicap and still see them emerge as winners.
