Coventry City and Ipswich Town have already secured their spot in football’s promised land. Question is, who will join them? The Championship playoffs are right around the corner, and I’ve found four tasty bets ahead of the first leg matches.
Championship Playoff Betting Tips
You’ve joined me at a really good time. Three of my last four accas have landed, including a 3/1 Premier League double last Monday.
I’m determined to keep the winning train going, and I’m confident about my next four selections, which are priced at 37/20 with one of the best online bookies, BetMGM.
If you’ve been keeping track, you’ll know that I’m currently making the most of my free bets with BetMGM. Don’t forget, you can also take advantage of their Bet £10 Get £40 welcome offer by clicking on one of the links in the table below, signing up for an account, and betting £10 on sports.

Bet 1: Hull vs Millwall – Oli McBurnie Over 0.5 Shots on Target
I’m kicking things off by jumping straight into the players market and backing Hull City’s Oli McBurnie to have over 0.5 shots on target.
This one for me is a no brainer. The 29-year-old is second in the Championship’s goal scoring charts this season, with 17 efforts to his name.
McBurnie scored four goals across his last five games, including a crucial brace against Norwich last weekend.
More importantly, McBurnie has produced at least one shot on target in nine of his last 10 matches.
Bet 2: Hull vs Millwall – Hull Over 0.5 Goals
With just one win in seven games to their name, Hull aren’t exactly flying. Despite this, I’m backing them to score at least one goal in Friday’s first leg.
Over the last three months, only two clubs have prevented Hull from scoring at the MKM Stadium. When you consider that the two teams in question are Coventry and Chelsea, that’s not bad going from the Tigers.
Another reason to back this bet is Millwall’s away record. The Lions have only kept one clean sheet from their last six games on the road.
Bet 3: Middlesbrough vs Southampton – Southampton Over 0.5 Goals
Southampton were thumped 4-0 when they last visited the Riverside, but a lot has changed since that November demolition.
Manager Tonda Eckert was still in his early days of his tenure at that point, and he has since turned the Saints from mid-table strugglers to serious promotion contenders.
Southampton are priced at around 2/5 to score on Saturday, and I’m chucking that bet into my acca. The Saints have scored in 25 successive games, including recent goals against Arsenal and Man City in the FA Cup.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have kept just one clean sheet from their last seven home games.
Bet 4: Middlesbrough vs Southampton – Over 7.5 corners
When it comes to corners, Middlesbrough are top of the Championship with 314 to their name, averaging almost seven per match.
Southampton are not far behind, posting almost six flag kicks per game.
With Boro showing a good attacking edge in recent games and Saints boasting a tremendous away record, I’m backing Saturday’s game to produce over 7.5 corners.
