Belgium have quietly gone about dismantling their World Cup qualifier group and head into the tournament somewhat under the radar. But the squad is packed with talent, and if you’re looking for an outside pick, they might just be for you.
However, before all that, they’ve got the small matter of their opening game against Egypt to look forward to from Group G. This should be a cracker. I’ve got three picks as part of my bet builder, paying a cool 17/4 with William Hill. Let’s jump in.

Bet 1: Belgium to Win
I’m liking how Belgium are shaping up under Rudi Garcia. Granted, their qualifying group was favourable, shall we say, but to go unbeaten, score 29 goals in 8 games (the most of any European nation), and play with a swagger befitting the quality of the players on the pitch was impressive.
This should be a good game against a solid Egyptian side, but I think World Cup odds of 8/13 for Belgium to kick off with a win look good value.
Their squad is stacked with stars, such as Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois, Leandro Trossard and Youri Tielemans. But more than that, there’s a balance between attack and defence, which is crucial at major tournaments.
Do I think they’ll be lifting the Jules Rimet anytime soon? Probably not, but they won't be far away, and they should beat Egypt on Monday night. This is the first part of my Belgium vs Egypt betting tips.
Bet 2: Kevin De Bruyne to Score Anytime
A bit of a Premier League blast from the past here, but any chance I get to watch Kevin De Bruyne take to the field, I generally try to take. He’s an absolute legend on these shores and I’m really looking forward to seeing where his game is since his switch from Manchester City to Napoli during the World Cup.
Let’s face it, if Belgium are to progress, KDB needs to be at his best. And he’s not been far off for club and country. In fact, he’s scored six goals in his last eight appearances for the national side, which is incredible form given he’s better known for his assists than goals.
We’re getting a reasonable price here of 11/4, which, for me, just has enough meat on the bone to get involved. If you shop around with the best betting sites nearer to kick off, there might be some odds boosts for KDB to score, so bear that in mind.
Bet 3: Over 2.5 Goals
This game just screams goals to me. I’ve already pointed out how well equipped Belgium have been going forward in the qualifying rounds, but even in the four friendlies since, they’ve scored 13 times. Things are ticking ever so nicely in the final third.
Egypt aren’t as prolific, but they still have Mo Salah, amongst others, who can chip in with a goal or two. Their aim will be to keep things as tight as they can, but once that first goal goes in, this game will open up, and I think the over 2.5 line will romp home.
