Bet 1: Borussia Dortmund to Beat Villarreal
These two met in last season’s Champions League, with Dortmund absolutely battering Villarreal 4-0 at home.
The Spaniards are winless in all four competitive games this season and have lost their last two. No brainer for me, BVB for the win. Next.
Bet 2: FC Porto vs Man City Both Teams to Score – Yes
Both teams have made perfect starts to their league campaigns, and both will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet.
Ignore the fact that their last meeting was goalless – that was over six years ago! BTTS is the way to go!
Bet 3: Lille vs Real Betis Over 1.5 Total Goals
I can’t tell you how much I’m tempted to back Troy Parrott to score here… fresh from his winner against Real Madrid.
Sadly, I’ve bottled it.
Rather than pretending I’ve got the cojones for a goalscorer bet, I’m taking the boring option and backing over 1.5 goals.
Two goals. That’s all I want.
Bet 4: Real Madrid vs Inter Milan Both Teams to Score – Yes
This is gonna be an emotional one for Jose Mourinho. Regrettably, there are no markets on whether he’ll shed a nostalgic tear.
Instead, I fancy both teams to score. Real Madrid have scored 10 across their last four, while Inter have rattled the net eight times in three.
Bet 5: Barcelona to Win and Over 2.5 Goals vs Feyenoord
Newcastle fans will be absolutely raging watching Anthony Gordon pull off prime Lionel Messi stats in his early days at Barcelona.
The winger has become the first man since the little Argentine to bag five assists in his first four La Liga games.
Naturally, the bookies have absolutely murdered his player-market prices. Honestly, there’s less value here than in B&M two weeks before Christmas.
Instead, I’m going for Barcelona to win and over 2.5 goals.
Bet 6: Stuttgart to Beat Viking
Viking FK are frauds.
I’m sorry, but they are.
You’ve got one job when you’re called Viking. Turn up looking like you’ve just sailed across the Atlantic to pillage a village.
Instead, they’ve got two blokes with beards and not one horned helmet in sight.
Stuttgart are European regulars and they come into this game on the back of a 4-1 thrashing of FC Koln.
I’m expecting the Germans to put these cosplay Vikings to the sword.
Bet 7: Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid Both Teams to Score – Yes
BTTS landed in three of the last four meetings between these two, and it also landed in Liverpool’s first two games of the season.
The Reds should score. Atletico are perfectly capable of being horrible bar-stewards and nicking one themselves.
BTTS. Chuck it in.
Bet 8: Arsenal to Win Away at Napoli
Napoli are down in the dumps after back-to-back Serie A defeats. Arsenal, meanwhile, look almost indestructible.
Obviously, this is football, so there’s every chance Napoli suddenly turn into prime Barcelona and leave me looking like an absolute berk.
But until that happens, I’m backing the Gunners.
Bet 9: PSG to Win Both Halves vs Slovan Bratislava
Four games into the French domestic season and PSG still haven’t won. Don’t worry, they’re probably just being generous… someone must give the farmers league a chance, after all.
They’re the back-to-back UCL winners and they’ve got Slovan Bratislava in front of them.
Slovan might have Yaya Toure in the dugout, but unless the big man gets his boots on and starts bullying people in midfield, I can’t see this being remotely competitive.
PSG to win both halves.
Bet 10: Man United –1 Handicap vs Sabah Baku
You’ve all heard the story by now.
Sabah Baku’s manager was a contestant on ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ in one of the Baltic countries, won a bit of money and decided to chuck it all into chasing his dream of becoming a football manager.
You’ve got to respect it.
The dream has now taken him to Old Trafford, where he’ll get to experience the Theatre of Dreams.
Unfortunately, every dream has to end, and his will be ended by Manchester United with the subtlety of a brick through a window.
United -1.
