Wembley beckons for Chelsea and Manchester City as they contest the traditional showpiece event of the English season. With the current era being dominated by the Champions League and TV coverage at a saturation point, the FA Cup may have lost a bit of its prestige. But the magic of the cup is still there, and Saturday’s clash between Chelsea, gunning for their ninth FA Cup win, and Manchester City, contesting their fourth successive final, is eagerly anticipated.  I’m looking forward to the action, especially as I have placed a nice little 15/8 bet builder.

Man City’s line-up and subsequent substitutions against Crystal Palace on Wednesday provided some clues to how Pep Guardiola’s side may line up at Wembley. After winning the Carabao Cup, City are chasing a domestic treble, although Arsenal hold the advantage in the title race. With three matches left, including the cup final, it is not 100% clear how Guardiola will shuffle his pack. So, I have stayed away from player props involving City. And with Chelsea being so unpredictable this season, I have avoided betting on individual players with them, too.

Using stats from Kickform, I have found three solid bets to make a 15/8 bet builder with bet365, one of the UK’s leading online bookies

Man City to Lift the Trophy

City may be in their fourth FA Cup Final in a row, but they will be mindful that they have lost their last two, against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, respectively. In March, they showed that they have rediscovered the knack of winning Wembley finals when they saw off Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. I think it is unlikely that a manager as good as Guardiola and a team as good as City will lose three FA Cup finals in a row.

More importantly, they are a better and more consistent side than Chelsea; they are in better current form, and the statistics point to a victory for Guardiola’s side. Chelsea have four defeats and only two wins in their last seven in all competitions. City are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions with only one draw in that sequence. Kickform give the Citizens a 63% chance of winning the match. I was tempted to back them to get the job done in 90 minutes, but I have settled on backing them to lift the cup. Whether that be after a win in normal time, extra time or on penalties.

Most Cards: Chelsea

Betting on cards in Chelsea games has been quite profitable recently. The Blues have consistently racked up bookings and the odd sending-off throughout the season. In the FA Cup, they have picked up nine yellow cards in five matches compared to three bookings for City. In the Premier League, only Tottenham have been shown more cards than Chelsea, who have an average of 2.56 cards per match, compared to Man City’s average of 1.75 cards per game. City are more disciplined and more streetwise. I am confident that Chelsea will be shown more cards than their opponents on Saturday.

Over 8.0 Corners

Like cards with Chelsea, corners with Man City have proved successful for me recently, including in their midweek win over Crystal Palace. They have won 28 corners and conceded 11 across their last three matches. Over the season, Man City’s Premier League games have seen over eight corners 67% of the time. Chelsea’s matches have a higher corner count, with 78% of their Premier League games exceeding eight corners.

In the FA Cup, Manchester City have won an average of 7.40 corners per game, while Chelsea have won an average of 5.60 per match. Across the Premier League season, City have won an average of 6.42 corners per match, a high for the division, while Chelsea are in second place with 6.14. At least nine flag kicks in the cup final looks likely.

My 15/8 FA Cup Final Bet Builder is Live

My 15/8 bet builder with bet365 is live, all ready for kickoff on Saturday. Remember that while the first bet is for Man City to lift the trophy rather than win in 90 minutes, the next two wagers are for 90 minutes only and do not include extra-time. Best of luck with your FA Cup betting, and remember to gamble responsibly.
