Tournament favourites France face European Champions Spain in a mouthwatering semi-final clash. As impressive as France have been throughout the tournament, Spain represent a tough task. Luis de la Fuente’s side are unbeaten in 36 consecutive games and have only conceded once in their six World Cup matches. The Spanish keep the ball well and possess a host of attacking talents. This one is too close to call, so I have avoided betting on the winner. However, I have studied both teams with the help of a raft of stats to compile a great value treble.

Under 3.5 Goals
There will be some fantastic attacking talent on display. Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele have been scoring for fun, prompted by one of the players of the tournament in Michael Olise. Spain have the exciting Lamine Yamal, the creative talents of Pedri and Dani Olmo, along with numerous players in the starting line-up and on the bench, such as Mikel Merino, who can score and create goals.
However, despite this I am backing there to be less than four goals. Both sides, especially Spain, look solid at the back, having only conceded three goals between them during the tournament, keeping a combined tally of nine clean sheets. Spain will look to control possession, condense space when France have the ball and prevent their opponent from getting into dangerous areas. A strategy which has served them well so far. For all of their possession and admirable attacking play La Roja have only scored eleven goals in their six games. France have rattled in 16 in six but will still find the Spanish defence a tough nut to crack. Kickform give a 73% chance of under 3.5 goals and their three most likely scores after 90 minutes are 1-0, 1-1 and 0-1. Such is the quality of the forward players I am not confident enough to go for under 2.5 goals but betting on under 3.5 is a great way to get the ball rolling on my treble.
Spain Corners: Over 4.5
Spain win a lot of corners, averaging 7.33 per match at the World Cup. None of their six games have seen them be awarded less than five flag kicks against opposition of various styles and quality. This market was successful for me in Spain’s match against Portugal in the round of 16. As good as France are I still see Spain getting a minimum of five corners.
Lamine Yamal 2+ Fouls
While Lamine Yamal is one of the best attacking players in the world, he is willing to work hard out of possession. This has resulted in him committing nine fouls in the World Cup at a rate of two fouls per 90 minutes. When you look at his stats last season for Barcelona in La Liga, he averaged 1.10 fouls per 90 minutes over 26 starts and two substitute appearances. Given the occasion and the quality of the opposition, I think he has a good chance of giving a couple of free kicks away. The World Cup odds of 6/4 for 2+ fouls are great value given the stats.
