Group K contains plenty of elements that many football fans love about the World Cup. There is the presence of an all-time great in Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, there are some exciting players of real class coming off successful club seasons with the likes of Luis Diaz, Vitinha and Bruno Fernandes and an unknown quantity in the form of Uzbekistan who are making their first appearance in the finals.
On paper, this looks like a straightforward group with Portugal and Colombia strong favourites to progress in front of DR Congo with Uzbekistan bringing up the rear. However, I have dug a bit deeper and have found three great value bets, including a potential surprise.

Bet 1: Colombia to Win Group K
With all due respect to Portugal, who are a good side with some fantastic players, I think that the bookies have underrated Colombia’s chances.
Portugal’s last seven matches have seen four wins, two draws and a loss. Two of those wins came in friendlies this month, neither of which were especially convincing. The remarkable Ronaldo is still first choice upfront and although he is still a class act, it has to be remembered that he is 41-years-old. Other important players to the Portuguese, such as Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo are the wrong side of 30 and may not be the force they once were.
Colombia have a fantastic talent in Luis Diaz, who has been outstanding for Bayern Munich this season, and Luis Suarez who has scored 38 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon in 2025/26. James Rodríguez provides the experience, and the former Real Madrid man will be pulling the strings from a deeper midfield role.
Portugal and Colombia meet in Miami for the final group game which is likely to decide the group as I expect both sides to win their opening two matches. The Colombians could well exploit some of Portugal’s weaknesses to take first place in Group K. 15/8 at William Hill, one of the UK's top bookies is good value.
Bet 2: DR Congo not to Qualify
DR Congo are a decent side, but I do not think that they have enough to get a result against either Portugal or Colombia. This rules out a top-two finish and they won’t do well enough to qualify as one of the third-placed teams. Star man Yoane Wissa has spent an injury-hit season misfiring at Newcastle United, and I feel that Congo’s tournament will be over after the three group games.
Bet3: Uzbekistan 0 Points
Uzbekistan are making their first appearance in the World Cup Finals. They are a solid, well drilled side, and I expect them to compete well. They have Edor Shomurodov in attack and a player in Abbosbek Fayzullaev who can pick out a pass, meaning that their opponents cannot afford to be complacent. That said, I rate the other three teams in the group as better sides and while they will have their moments, I expect Uzbekistan to leave the tournament with three defeats. With World Cup betting odds of 3/1 at 10bet it is worth a punt.
