Bet 1: Scottie Scheffler to Win
I get it. This won’t be a popular bet given the bookies have priced Scottie Scheffler at 3/1 in the outright market. However, I can’t possibly ignore a man who has won the last two editions of this tournament.
Scheffler is looking to become the first man to win the same event three years in a row since Steve Stricker’s run at the John Deere Classic between 2009 and 2011.
Looking at his recent form, Scheffler should be in contention. The American finished third at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson a fortnight ago, while also finishing second at the Miami Championship, RBC Heritage, and the Masters.
The world number one will also be buoyed by the Muirfield Village Golf Club – a course that accentuates all his strengths, including his approach play, scrambling ability, and his patience in difficult conditions.
Bet 2: Rory McIlroy Top 5 Finish
Rory McIlroy is in great form, but can he finally deliver a decent performance at the Memorial Tournament? It’s a question I’ve been wrestling with all week.
On the one hand, McIlroy has never won on this course, with his best performance a fourth-place finish in 2016. While his drive is unquestionably strong, Rory’s short game has been less reliable. On a course where every par matters, this has often been a tough test for the Northern Irishman.
Putting all that aside, McIlroy is coming into this event on the back of a recent Masters victory. The 37-year-old has also come second at the Genesis Invitational, underlining his impressive form.
McIlroy has been priced at around the 11/5 mark to finish in the top five, and I think that’s a reasonable price for a player who has produced some terrific golf in recent events.

Bet 3: Cameron Young Top 10 Finish
Winner of the Players Championship and the Miami Championship over the last couple of months, Cameron Young certainly deserves consideration.
Young is one of the biggest hitters on the PGA Tour, which will work in his favour at Muirfield’s lengthy par-4s.
Confidence is in abundance, and I’m backing the 29-year-old to finish in the top 10 at the Memorial Tournament. Priced at around 29/20, the value is certainly there.
