As the transfer window briefly closes for the newly revamped 32-team Club World Cup, the rumour mill is still very much in full flow, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo tipped to leave Los Blancos this summer.

The arrival of French starlet Kylian Mbappe to Madrid has meant that playing time for the Brazilian has suffered, with just 22 starts in La Liga for the 2024/25 season.
A return of six goals and five assists is solid enough, but nowhere near the output of Mbappe (31 goals, three assists) or Vinicius Junior (11 goals, eight assists), who have largely been the reason for the lack of game time.
Noise from within Rodrygo’s camp has suggested unrest at not playing in this preferred wide left position, but lacklustre performances in the Copa de Rey Final against Barcelona, where he was substituted at half time, have done little to improve his chances of displacing either of his teammates.
A recent post to social media channels may suggest that he wants to stay at Madrid, prompting an angry “stop making things up” message to rumours about his next club.
And things may yet work out with the incoming of new manager Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the helm following a rare trophy-less season at the Bernabeu.
However, Alonso may see Rodrygo as a saleable asset, which would enable him to stamp his own authority on the squad.
Reports suggest that a fee of upwards of €100 million could be attained, which would provide room for much-needed reinforcements, particularly in defence and midfield.
A decision will be made on Rodrygo’s next club after the Club World Cup, but one thing is for sure, there will be plenty of interest for one of the most exciting wide forwards in the game.

Rodrygo-ing Nowhere? Bookies Suggest Madrid Stay Likely
The bookies' price of 2/5 for Rodrygo to stay at Real Madrid suggests that they think he will fight for his place in the team.
He has already reportedly informed the club of his plans to stay and fight for his place in the team, highlighting the Club World Cup as a platform to show the attributes that new boss Alonso will have at his disposal.
But the reality is that players will need to leave to improve the squad. And with a €100 million carrot hanging over his head, it would make a lot of sense to cash in and invest in the team elsewhere.
Given the noise that’s slowly been generated over the last few days, a move away might end up suiting both parties as Rodrygo seeks more game time and Madrid look to fatten their wallets.
The Rodfather Part IV: Emirates Edition
Arsenal have already touched base with Rodrygo’s people in a move that would see the 24-year-old feature in the Premier League for the first time.
It’s no secret that Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his attacking options, specifically on the left-hand side, where the likes of Martinelli, Havertz, and Trossard have all failed to make the position their own.
The €100 million price tag likely won’t be an issue, but it will be a significant part of the budget, and they may need to sell before they can get a deal over the line.
The reality for Arsenal is that they somehow need to turn these second-place finishes in the league into that elusive Premier League winners' trophy.
Adding quality like Rodrygo, regardless of the fee, will certainly do that, and the odds of 7/4 for a move that would suit both parties look highly tempting.
Grealish Out, Rodrygo In: Big Calves to Fill in Potential City Move
Jack Grealish looks set to leave the Etihad this season following a poor season that returned just a single goal and assist in the Premier League.
With Jeremy Doku unable to nail down his starting role, and following a turbulent year in Manchester that saw Guardiola’s team trophy-less, on paper, it appears that Rodrygo would be a good fit.
The price tag ordinarily wouldn’t be an issue, but City have already been active in the market, recruiting Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki, blowing €125 million in the process.
Any move for Rodrygo would almost certainly be on the back of Grealish leaving, and for a fee that covers at least half of the total spend for the Brazilian.
Odds of a move to Manchester at 12/1 look speculative at best, and this is likely a bet we’d swerve on the back of that.
