The Spaniard has shown great potential, and with Team Emirates installing him and Joao Almeida as team leaders, we think that he will rise to the challenge. Worth an each-way bet.
Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates): A great each-way bet
Like his sparring partner Juan Ayuso, Joao Almeida is being pushed by Team Emirates in the absence of Tadej Pogacar. We think that the pair will push each other and that Almeida is also worth an each-way wager.
La Vuelta a España Favourites
The early favourite is Jonas Vingegaard, runner-up in 2023. The two-time Tour de France winner will go into this event looking for his third Grand Tour win.
Juan Ayuso, Joao Almeida and Richard Carapaz also rank highly among the bookies. Ayuso and Almeida have both shown great potential to be tour winners and both will be a threat this year.
La Vuelta a España Route
La Vuelta will take place over 3151 kilometres, split into 21 stages. Odds will be released for each stage closer to the time. It will be broken down into five flat stages, a hilly stage, seven medium mountain stages, six mountain stages, one individual time trial, a team time trial, and two rest days.
This year, the race will have stages in Italy and France, as well as Spain. It starts on August 21, with a flat stage in Turin, Italy, and ends on September 14, in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
