Thinking of including some of those picks in your weekend acca? Read on to see why we think our selections will bear fruit!
Bet 1: Brentford vs Brighton – Draw & BTTS No (10/3 Odds)
Brentford sit one place and five points below Brighton in the Premier League going into this one. After winning home games for fun while struggling to pick up points away in the first half of the season, the Bees have flipped this stat on its head since the festive period, and are now without a home victory in the league since December. They have drawn three out of their last six Premier League matches, losing two and winning only once.
Brighton have struggled since their FA Cup exit to Nottingham Forest. A home game with struggling Leicester last weekend failed to provide a tonic, with the Seagulls having to settle for a 2-2 draw. They have won two league matches in the last six, with the last four seeing two draws and two losses.
The reverse fixture saw the two sides play out a goalless draw. We think it will end up level again, but we’re not expecting a blank score sheet. Brentford has scored 52 times this season and conceded 48. Brighton has a similar record with 51 scored and 49 conceded. There are goals in this one and we think that 10/3 is great value for a score draw.
Bet 2: Everton vs Manchester City – Total Goals: Under 3.5 (4/11 Odds)
Only Liverpool and Arsenal have conceded less goals than Everton in the Premier League so far this season. The Toffee’s miserly backline has shipped only 38 times in 32 games, the joint third best record in the division with fourth placed Nottingham Forest.
Scoring goals has been a different matter though, finding the net a paltry 34 times. David Moyes has made them hard to beat since his return, with one defeat in six. However, they have only won once in that time, an excellent 1-0 over high-flying Forest last time out.
Manchester City are capable of banging in the goals against anyone. However, this season has been a struggle by their own high standards, and they have not been as free scoring as in previous seasons. Erling Haaland isn’t likely to be back anytime soon, and Phil Foden is also doubtful.
We think that going for under 2.5 goals is a bridge too far given City’s potential if they click, but we think that under 3.5 is good value at 4/11.
Bet 3: Fulham vs Chelsea – Over 3.5 Cards (8/13 Odds)
There is always a little bit of an edge when these West London rivals meet. The reverse fixture saw Fulham snatch a dramatic win at Stamford Bridge with two late goals. The match also saw four yellow cards brandished.
Last season the two games brought five yellow cards at Craven Cottage and six at Stamford Bridge. Furthermore, using our stats hub, you can see that Chelsea are averaging a Premier League high of 2.88 cards per game, while Fulham are eighth, averaging 2.19 cards per game. So, we feel that at 8/13, over 3.5 cards is a good addition to our acca.
Bet 4: Ipswich Town vs Arsenal – Arsenal to win (2/5 Odds)
Ipswich came away from Chelsea with a 2-2 draw last time out. However, despite showing moments of promise, the Tractor Boys are almost certain to make a return to the Championship.
Arsenal come into the match on the back of a fantastic win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, which sealed their place in the Champions League semi-finals where they will face PSG. The Gunners’ league form has suffered however, with two wins and four draws from their last six league matches.
Prior to this sequence they lost to London rivals West Ham, which makes it two wins from seven in the league. This has seen their title chances diminish, with Liverpool only needing six more points to secure the title.
We think that Arsenal will get back into winning ways in the league at Portman Road, even after their exploits in the Spanish capital this week. They have far more quality than Ipswich and will make it count on Sunday. At 2/5, an Arsenal win is a worthwhile addition to our acca.
Bet 5: Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest – BTTS: Yes (1/2 Odds)
Despite having a disappointing season, Tottenham has only failed to score twice at home this season. However, only five sides have conceded more at home that Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Forest have lost a little ground in the race for Champions League places. While still looking reasonably solid at the back, scoring goals has been a problem of late. However, the return of Chris Wood from injury could remedy this and we expect them to find the net on Monday. We feel that 1/2 for BTTS is decent value.
