When Mikel Arteta took charge at The Emirates in December 2019, it was seen as the start of a new era for Arsenal. Things had gone sour under his predecessor Arsene Wenger, and even though the Frenchman had revolutionised the club (and in many ways, the Premier League), hoovering up trophies like a Dyson at an appliance convention, a change was needed, and that’s exactly what they got.

They’re now a staple back at the top of the table, with three second-place finishes in as many seasons.

The 2022/23 season set the tone for their pathway to consistency, leading the Premier League for 248 days – the most of any side to not win the league – before eventually ceding to Manchester City.

In 2023/24, they were closer still, racking up a massive 89 points with the fewest goals conceded (29), only to once again be pipped by City.

Last season (2024/25) brought a dip, and even though their 74 points were enough to finish 10 adrift of Liverpool, it felt like Arteta needed a fresh outlook to change this team from contenders to conquerors.

Some fans have been calling for a change at the top to get them over the line, but Arsenal owners, KSE, have backed their man and have already dropped another £200 million into the squad for 2025/26.

Arsenal’s odds to win the Premier League of 9/4 suggest they will be there or thereabouts come May. Whether it’s enough remains to be seen.

This Season: What’s Changed and Why it Matters

Arsenal’s issue last season was their inability to see games off. Too many stalemates (14 draws) and points dropped from winning positions (21) allowed Liverpool to walk away with the title.

Recruitment has been shrewd. A true number nine in the form of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting was wrapped early in the window, adding elite shot volume and high penalty-box occupation numbers to a squad desperate for match winners.

Martin Zubimendi's arrival will add grit to the base of the midfield following the departure of Thomas Partey to Villarreal. Eyebrows have been raised at the £65 million price tag, but the Spaniard is a world-class progressive passer who will close lanes, press hard and reduce some of the transitional chaos that led to so many dropped points last season.

They’ve then added a host of talent to further boost the squad. Noni Madueke from Chelsea, Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia and Christian Nørgaard from Brentford are the exact type of squad players you need over a long season to come in and do a job.

Do Arsenal to Win the League Odds Offer Value?

Arsenal’s odds of 9/4 suggest the bookies think they have improved with a 31% implied probability to win the league, just a hair behind Liverpool at 19/10 (35%).

The question that needs to be asked is whether the introduction of Gyökeres and Zubimendi, amongst others, is enough to push Arsenal towards that ~90-point mark?

Draw compression is the key to their season. Arsenal needs to turn five or six of those 14 draws from last season into wins. This would boost them up toward the high 80s, and whenever clubs reach this level, they have a chance of winning the Premier League.

Another spanner in the works for Arsenal is that both Liverpool and Manchester City have been active in the window.

Arne Slot has spent north of £250 million already, with another potential marquee signing in Alexander Isak on the cards, boosting Liverpool's odds. Guardiola has invested almost £350 million since January 2025 after a dismal season at The Etihad.

Even though they have improved, 9/4 odds on Arsenal winning the league doesn’t have enough meat on the bone when you see how strong the competition is.

Arsenal’s Premier League odds may be on the thin side of value, but there’s no doubt that Arteta has a strong squad at his disposal.

They’re a club that has historically gone well in cup competitions, winning the FA Cup a record 14 times, which is also the last major trophy they won back in 2019/20.

In recent years, the fact that they’ve been so heavily in the mix to win the league has meant that some of the cup competitions have been lower down the pecking order. This might change for 2025/26, especially after watching their North London rivals, Tottenham, winning the Europa League last season.

Arsenal to win a major trophy is best priced at 1/1 (evens) with bet365, and for us, this is the value play. It’s not much shorter than the odds on Arsenal to win the league, giving us a decent price for that alone, with the security of three other competitions as well.
