Check out our Premier League acca for the opening Saturday of the season.

Champions Liverpool get the season underway against Bournemouth on Friday evening with boss Arne Slot having spent serious money on strengthening over the summer. Slot will be aiming for a title defence as well as a serious tilt at the Champions League

Elsewhere, seemingly perennial runners-up Arsenal will be hoping to throw off their bridesmaid tag and claim the title, Manchester City will be fighting to bounce back and retain their crown, while Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland return to the top division.

Like the look of our acca? Well get yourself on it. Or you might fancy a couple of the bets as singles. If you would rather go alone have a look at our Premier League stats hub where you will find a load of data from last season to support your research.

Now let’s look at our four bets and our reasoning behind them.

Bet One: Brighton vs Fulham, BTTS Yes (8/13)

Last season, both teams found the net in 71% of Brighton’s matches. Ditto for Fulham. The pair topped the Premier League charts for both teams scoring with Brentford the next highest at 66%. Brighton scored an average of 1.74  goals per game last season, with Fulham averaging 1.42. Both sides shipped over 50 goals in their 38 matches.

Much can change over the summer break, however, we feel that both sides will still commit to playing good football, both can be dangerous in attack and both will be open enough to give the opposition a chance. We think this is a solid start to our weekend acca.

Bet Two: Sunderland vs West Ham United, Over 4.5 Cards (10/11)

Sunderland return to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2017. It is a big day for the Black Cats and there is sure to be a white hot atmosphere as they welcome West Ham United.

Looking at the Championship stats from last season Sunderland averaged 2.31 cards per game. West Ham averaged 2.18 card last season in the Premier League. Given the occasion and the atmosphere we think five or more cards is fairly likely. Sunderland will be fired up and the Hammers should be motivated after a disappointing campaign last time round.

Bet Three: Tottenham vs Burnley, Over 8.0 Corners (3/10)

Tottenham roared into a two-goal lead in midweek against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup, only to be pegged back and lose on penalties. While there were positives to take, it has to be remembered that PSG have only just returned to training after the FIFA Club World Cup. Boss Thomas Frank will know only too well that there are huge issues to be addressed from last season and that he has to make his side more solid.

Burnley are a side who know a thing or two about tightening up. They were relegated from the Premier League two seasons ago, with their approach being roundly criticised by pundits as being too open. They based their promotion push on strong defence and finished the season as runners-up with a Scrooge-like defensive record. They look set to continue this strategy in the Premier League, though how the loss of James Trafford to Man City affects them is yet be seen, though Martin Dubravka is a capable replacement.

There wasn’t a lot wrong with Spurs going forward last season. As well as scoring 64 goals they averaged 6.39 corners per game, the fourth highest in the league. It was at the other end that they had problems, conceding 65 times. 82% of their matches featured over 8.5 corners last season, which suggests that they concede a flag kick or two. Burnley averaged 5.26 corners per game last season, admittedly a level down. 50% of their games featured over 8.5 corners. We think that this match has the potential to produced double figures in terms of corners. We would be most surprised with eight or less.

Bet Four: Wolverhampton vs Manchester City, City to Win and Over 2.5 Goals (1/1)

Wolves may have finished last season strongly but the loss of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United and Rayan Aït-Nouri to this Saturday’s opponents Manchester City may mean that they are once again looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

City may have had a disappointing season by their standards, however, they have invested heavily and see them bouncing back this time around. They will mount a strong challenge at the top of the table.

However it plays out for the two sides this season we believe it will be an away win at Molineux on Saturday. We also think that there will be goals. 66% of Wolves matches last season featured over 2.5 goals. For City it was 61%. Wolves averaged 1.42 goals per game and City 1.89. We would be surprised at anything less than three goals in this one.
