Bet 1: Liverpool vs Atlético Madrid – Liverpool to Win and Under Five Goals – 5/6
It’s a perfect four wins from four in the league for Arne Slot’s Liverpool side, who host Atlético Madrid at Anfield. On paper, it's the perfect start, but they’ve had to dig deep in all four wins, scoring in the last ten minutes of each to get over the line.
Atlético notched their first domestic win of the season on Saturday, strolling past Villarreal 2-0. Two lacklustre draws and an inability to see out their season opener against Espanyol suggest that Simeone is still struggling to get a tune out of the team.
We know Atlético will set up to try and frustrate Liverpool, and it’s been a tactic we’ve seen with relative success so far in the Reds’ league form. The last meeting between the teams in 2021 was a 2-0 win for Liverpool at home, and it could be much of the same on Wednesday night.
Bet 2: Bayern Munich vs Chelsea – Bayern to Win – 8/11
Three games, three wins, 14 goals. It’s safe to say Bayern have shot out of the blocks in defence of their Bundesliga title. They thumped Hamburg 5-0 at the weekend and look in imperious form, heading into a humdinger of a game against Chelsea.
Chelsea have kicked off 2025/26 with two wins and two draws. Good, not great. If Enzo Maresca had hair, he’d have been pulling it out after Saturday’s 2-2 stalemate at Brentford. A game they dominated for large parts, with multiple opportunities to put the game to bed before conceding a sloppy goal in the 93rd minute.
These lapses in concentration are why we’re taking Bayern to come away with all three points. Chelsea will get punished at the Allianz Arena if they’re not on top form for 90 minutes, which they’ve so far proved this season to be a real cause for concern.
Bet 3: PSG vs Atalanta – PSG to Win and BTTS – 7/4
PSG begin their title defence in a tricky-looking tie at the Parc des Princes against Atalanta. They, like Bayern, have got off to a hot start domestically, with four wins from four. There is a slight cause for concern with Dembélé, Doué, and Beraldo all missing, and this will force Luis Enrique into a re-jig, of sorts.
Their attacking profile is first-rate, with an 88.9 xG and 31.2 xGA last season underlining their qualities at both ends of the pitch. Numbers so far this season haven’t been quite as impressive, shipping three goals against Toulouse and conceding a higher xG in their 2-0 win over Lens.
Whether Atalanta can take advantage of this is the big question. They’re unbeaten so far this season with one win and two draws, scoring six goals in the process. What’s been impressive is their transitional play, a feature of last season's success. Ivan Jurić is quite happy for his team to sit deep and counter, which will be the perfect game plan against PSG.
Bet 4: Ajax vs Inter Milan – Inter Milan to Win – 4/6
Inter Milan get their 2025/26 campaign underway with a tough trip to Ajax. Last season's beaten finalist has got off to a slow start in the league, losing two of their opening three games.
But context needs to be applied. They cruised past Torino 5-0 in their opener, massively outplayed Udinese at home in a 2-1 defeat (1.97 xG vs 1.21 xG) and probably should have got at least a point away to Juventus, again outperforming on expected goals (0.98 xG vs 0.68 xG).
Ajax are unbeaten in the league, winning three and drawing two from their opening five. However, they struggled in the Europa League last season, limping through the league stage before eventually losing to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Round of 16. This is a huge step up, and there’s not an awful lot to suggest they will make the step up here.
