Next week, all 36 Champions League teams play at 8pm UK time as we reach a dramatic end to the group stage. As for Wednesday, some of those teams need a result to give themselves a fighting chance of making the knockout stages, and that has led to some intriguing ties.

Wednesday Champions League Acca Tips – Backing Bayern to Run Riot

With plenty of teams in dire need of a result, some games may be cagey. Our UCL bets are based on those we think will run a little more freely, with goals surely on the cards.

Our latest 4-fold football acca is just over 9/1 with Coral, one of the best betting sites around. A successful £10 wager here would net a return of £100.80.

Bet 1 – Qarabag v Eintracht Frankfurt – Eintracht or Draw & Over 2.5 Goals

Qarabag, who sit second in the Azerbaijan Premier League, have managed a win and a draw from three home games in the Champions League this season. Eintracht have been less successful on the road, but their away form has noticeably improved from matchday to matchday.

The Eagles lost their first game on their travels 5-1 at Atletico Madrid, before securing a 0-0 draw at Napoli. Last time out, they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Barcelona having led at half-time. They’re getting there, and their most recent domestic games have been full of goals.

Eintracht drew 3-3 at home to Borussia Dortmund, lost 3-2 at Stuttgart, and drew 3-3 at home with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga over the last two weeks. They are full of goals, while Qarabag have only had friendly matches to keep themselves going. The German side will be strong here, but we’re going for the insurance of the double result along with a hatful of goals.

Bet 2 – Bayern Munich v Union Saint-Gilloise – Bayern to Win & Over 3.5 Goals

Kickform gives Bayern an 82% winning chance, but we think it’s even bigger than that. Bayern just love scoring, in fact they’ve managed the small matter of 49 goals in 12 home matches this season, averaging four per game.

The Bavarian side won 8-1 in their last home match, a result that preceded 3-1 and 5-1 away wins. There’s no doubt that they’ll beat Union SG, and they could even cover the 4+ goals needed by themselves, though we note that they’ve conceded in five of their last six games which gives this bet more of a fighting chance.

Bet 3 – Newcastle v PSV Eindhoven – Newcastle to Win and Over 1.5 Home Goals

Getting the negatives out of the way first; Newcastle have gone two games without scoring now and in fact looked completely toothless at Wolves on Sunday. They may well have tired after a frantic period, but in truth their 0-0 draw at Molineux had the look of a relaxed pre-season friendly about it, meaning they should be fine here physically.

Before those last two games, Newcastle had been both scoring and conceding for fun. They remain hugely motivated to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, and manager Eddie Howe will undoubtedly be looking for a big reaction to the disappointing result at Wolves.

The Toon will go for it under the lights at St James’ and they are rightful favourites to beat PSV. One goal is rarely enough for Newcastle to get the job done, while PSV have conceded in four of their last five games against weaker opposition. With that, we’re going for the Magpies to get the three points and score at least twice in the process.

Bet 4 – Slavia Prague v Barcelona – Barcelona to Win

Kickform gives Barcelona a 79% chance of winning this match. Given that they once again lead the way in La Liga, Barca obviously still have the quality needed, but they find themselves in a tricky position being 15th in the Champions League table.

The motivation is there, and their away record in Europe of scoring five and conceding seven this season doesn’t tell the full story. They won at Newcastle, drew 3-3 at Brugge and lost 3-0 at Chelsea after having a man sent off. Slavia’s home form is no better, and this the business end of the competition, a time when teams like Barcelona tend to get serious.
