The Gatorade shower is as much a part of the Super Bowl as the half-time show. In 2026, bettors are once again speculating about which Gatorade colour will be poured over the winning head coach at Super Bowl LX this Sunday, 8 February. We’ve gathered the latest odds and betting insights for you.

A look at the history books makes it no surprise that the leading Gatorade colours are heading into Super Bowl LX as favourites. Over the last ten years, blue and orange have dominated, and some of the best online bookies are backing that trend to continue. The only real exceptions came with the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent successes, when Andy Reid enjoyed a purple shower.

The only year fans were denied the iconic moment was 2017, when the Patriots beat the Falcons. Bill Belichick was spared the soaking by his team, led by superstar Tom Brady, and stayed dry for the Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation.

Seahawks Favourites – The Gatorade Colour from Their Last Super Bowl Win

The Seahawks, currently clear favourites in the Super Bowl betting markets, last celebrated a championship in February 2014. Back then, Russell Wilson and company doused head coach Pete Carroll. Orange was the colour of that day.

But what about the Patriots? That’s where things get tricky. In only three of their last six Super Bowl wins did a Gatorade shower actually take place. Even then, there was no clear pattern in colour choice.

In 2005, it was just water. In 2015 and 2019, Belichick was drenched in blue. For current head coach Mike Vrabel, the colour probably won’t matter much, as long as he ends up getting soaked.

When Does the Gatorade Shower Happen?

Given the clear pecking order identified by NFL bookmakers, the question of whether a Gatorade shower happens before the final whistle may be settled early. Whether it actually goes ahead could depend more on the head coaches than the scoreline.

For Sunday night into Monday morning in San Francisco, temperatures of around 10°C are forecast. Cold enough to think twice… but Super Bowl tradition usually wins out.
