The Falklands War. The Hand of God. David Beckham’s red card. Even the Top Gear row. England versus Argentina has never been just another football match – it’s a rivalry shaped by decades of sporting drama, political tension and war. On Wednesday, another chapter will be written as the two nations meet in the World Cup semi-finals. With so much on the line, I’ve picked out four bet builder selections for what promises to be another unforgettable encounter.
England vs Argentina Bet Builder
I used one of the best online bookies, William Hill, to compile a juicy 6/1 bet builder. Given the entire bet had 3+ selections and was over 3/1, the bookie sweetened the deal with a 25% boost to make the final price 7.5/1. Lovely!

Bet 1: Penalty Awarded – Yes
American ref Ismail Elfath loves pointing to the spot, so I'm backing a penalty here.
He awarded two penalties in Norway's win over Brazil, and that was the second time in his last four games he's given two in the same match.
Overall, he's awarded six penalties across his last nine games (across all comps), while England and Argentina have already won four spot-kicks between them at this tournament.
With lots of attacking talent and tension on the pitch, don't be surprised if the whistle blows.
Bet 2: Both Teams to Score – Yes
Both Teams to Score has clicked in four of England’s six World Cup games, with Argentina posting the exact same record.
There’s bags of quality going forward, but neither defence has looked watertight, with both sides managing just two clean sheets all tournament.
With so much firepower on show, I’m backing both teams to find the net inside 90 minutes.
Bet 3: Jude Bellingham 1+ Shots on Target
Backing Jude Bellingham to have a shot on target has been my go-to bet throughout this tournament.
The Real Madrid man has tested goalkeepers in five of six World Cup matches, and he also boasts a goal tally of six.
I’m sticking with my favourite bet against Argentina. At a price of 4/9, this is a solid addition to the bet builder.
Bet 4: Alexis Mac Allister Over 1 Tackle
Argentina’s Alexis Mac Allister is joint fourth at the World Cup when it comes to the total number of tackles.
The Liverpool man has made 18 tackles across his five tournament starts, committing six fouls along the way.
I’m liking the numbers and backing the midfielder to land over one tackle in the final leg of my bet builder.
