After his win in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton has thrown this title race wide open. Ferrari’s upgrades worked a charm in Catalunya and are expected to go well again this week in Austria. The big question will be: can Mercedes curtail their reliability issues heading to a track that should, on paper, suit the W17? Well, I’m here to find out and, by doing so, see where the betting value lies on Sunday, 28 June, at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix.

Bet 1: Lewis Hamilton to Win the Austrian Grand Prix
The bookies are siding with both the Mercedes this week, with Kimi Antonelli the 7/4 favourite and George Russell not far behind at 11/4. It’s crazy how quickly the power has shifted at the Brackley-based outfit, with Antonelli starting the season as very much an understudy to Russell.
Reliability is an issue. They’ve now only had one car finish two of the last three races, and at Monaco, Russell finished outside of the points. It’s flung the door wide open for the chasing pack, and no one has benefited more than Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton’s showing the level of consistency that has helped him win seven World Championships. His win last week in Barcelona will be a career highlight, which is saying something given how much he’s achieved.
Ferrari comes into this week with a power unit update that offers more speed down the straights. This can only be a good thing, but the question will be if it’s enough to bridge the raw speed gap of Mercedes.
Honestly, I think Lewis priced at 4/1 with the best betting sites to go back-to-back is the play here. He looks revitalised, full of energy and, most worrying for the rest, hungry for more.
Bet 2: Max Verstappen to Finish Top 3
Max Verstappen has an incredible record in Austria, with four wins in his 10 races here. It’s very much a home away from home race for the Dutchman, and that Orange Wall will be out in force to support.
The Red Bull, however, has been disappointing so far this season. They’ve lacked pace and reliability, and suffered from terrible understeer in the low corners. The perfect cocktail for a hacked-off four-time World Champion.
There might, however, be a bit of light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. Like Ferrari, they also have upgrades this week, and given that the Red Bull Ring is one of the more power-sensitive on the rota, that should suit them.
Talks on the socials suggest that he’s very buoyant about the changes, and when someone like Max gets excited, you generally sit up and take note.
I’m not all that concerned about how they fare in practice and to some extent qualifying, but I think race pace could be right up there. He’s 6/4 with some of the best F1 betting sites for a top-three finish, and for me, backing Max at the Red Bull Ring is usually a smart move.
Bet 3: Isak Hadjar Top 10 Finish
When Isak Hadjar took the dreaded second seat at Red Bull, I think most would agree that they thought he would endure the same difficulties that have seen the likes of Sergio Perez, Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo all fail to make a significant impact. But that hasn’t been the case.
His debut season thus far has been nothing short of brilliant. He’s picked up 34 points, comfortably in the top 10 for the Drivers’ Championship, and most importantly, getting quicker each week.
Now, there’s a bit of a caveat here. He’s priced at 1/5 for a top 10 this week as a single. Obviously, no value in that, but William Hill have these three picks priced at 14/1 in their #YourOdds section ready for you to take advantage of.
It’s way overpriced, given the odds for each individual pick and we’re getting almost 30% +EV as an accumulator. If that’s not value, then I don’t know what is.
So, Isak Hadjar for a top 10 finish this week is the play and the final pick of my 14/1 acca for Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix.
