Security has clearly been an area that Hollywoodbets has invested in. This place is safer than Fort Knox, at least in the online world, anyway. It’s fully licensed with the UK Gambling Commission (#53028) and works extensively with GamStop, Gamble Aware, IBAS and National Gamblers Helpline to ensure that players are safe when they sign up and deposit, but also if they need any help with problem gambling and addiction.

We took a little time to dig into the bones of their security as part of our Hollywoodbets review. First up, the SSL. This is a SHA-256 connection, which is the gold standard for the online betting sector. We liked that the app has face recognition on iOS and Android, and that there’s a lot of info on the site about compliance and player safety.

Overall, this is about as good as it gets. It’s a transparent sportsbook, which is a huge plus and it’s clear from the minute you sign that they are keen to promote player safety and keep protocols in place that promote this.

They’ve extensive measures in place, and if you’re new, it can be annoying, but it’s designed to keep you safe, so if they didn’t have these measures in place, that would be alarming.

Good, not great for the promo section

Jonathan Askew – In terms of risk-free bets, this is one of the better ones. It’s easy to claim, worth up to £30, which is decent and only requires three or more picks. But, for me, there are better welcome offers that give you free money regardless of whether your bet wins. For example, I could go to bet365 and place the same acca bet and still get £30 in free bets regardless of whether my acca won or not. It’s not so much that I don’t like this specific offer, just more that I think these types of offers aren’t all that great in terms of value.

Hollywoodbets Other Promotions

A good, not great range of other promotions outside of the welcome offer as part of our Hollywoodbets review. It’s not that what is there is bad, but it’s more the lack of options. They have things like Acca Boost, Acca Insurance and early payout on most football bets, but the majority of bookies have these now, and we’d class these more as features than promotions.

But that said, let’s jump into what they do have and show you how they work.

Horse Racing Promotions

Best odds guaranteed (BOG) is on offer for all British, Irish and South African (rare to include this) races. So, if you bet on the morning of the race and the odds for the horse are higher when the race starts, you get paid at those higher odds. You don’t need to opt-in or do anything to trigger this, but bet and go.

Hollywoodbets VIP and Loyalty Programme

We had a quick chat with “Holly” (she’s AI) from Hollywoodbets live chat, who told us that there wasn’t a VIP programme as such. But they do have options to earn “perks” based on points. You can climb the levels as you earn, and as you move up, you get better rewards. It works a lot like a traditional VIP programme, but the issue is that you’re limited in terms of those perks, and the rewards for the outlay aren’t all that great.

So, to sum it up, you do get a reward for using the sportsbook and casino, but the rewards aren’t great. Something that is, obviously, better than nothing, though.

Let’s kick off with the positives. You’ve a good range of deposit options to choose from. Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and bank transfer (via RapidTransfer). Deposits start from just £5 up to £5,000, and once your account is verified, you’re good to go. It’s everything we’d expect from a leading online UK bookie.

Withdrawals are a little more limited. You can use Visa, Skrill or Neteller, but again, they start from £5 (which is low – a good thing) and range up to a massive £60,000 with Visa, and £5,000 with Skrill or Neteller. If you’ve used a deposit method that isn’t one of these three, then you’ll need to register with one to get your money.

Now, here’s the not-so-good. We set about withdrawing £10 back to Visa (our deposit method) and it took us almost three weeks to get our money. You read that right, just £10 back to our debit card. We spoke multiple times with support, and they were on hand to update us, stating that it was being processed and could take up to seven working days.

We never really got to the bottom of the delay. However, we have tested a withdrawal twice since and both times it went back to Visa, and they hit our account within a matter of hours. Jonathan Askew – I’m confident that the issue I had with my initial withdrawal was a one-off. I’ve researched the forums to see if others have had similar delays, and I’ve not come across anything that suggests people have. The fact that I’ve then withdrawn twice, and promptly since that, for me is good enough to know that it likely won’t happen again. Frustrating, but not a deal breaker, as these things can happen.

Now we’re jumping into the fun part of our Hollywoodbets review and likely the spot that a lot of you have skipped to. It’s OK, we get it, you’re here for the sports, so let’s jump in.

With around 40 sports live at any one time, it’s certainly one of the bigger sportsbooks that we’ve tested. If you’re someone looking for variety, this is going to score highly for you.

Football is, of course, the biggest part of the sportsbook, with 1400+ live markets to bet on at the time of writing. Next up is, oddly, table tennis, then greyhounds, ice hockey and tennis. Not your usual mix, but we quite like that.

Bets start from £0.10, which is low and ideal if you’re on a limited budget. If you need something super low, then check out Coral and Ladbrokes, where you can bet from as little as £0.01. Max daily winnings are capped at £100,000, but if you need to extend this, we’re told Hollywoodbets' customer service can make exceptions.

Hollywoodbets Football Betting Coverage

As we’ve mentioned, football betting is king here. They’ve more markets than any other sport and cover all the top leagues. The bet builder tool is brilliant. There are over 100 markets per game, and they run a Combo Booster where you can get up to 70% additional payout for single game builders. If you’re into Asian betting, then they have tons to choose from, including handicaps, corners, cards, goals, and half betting. Most games have a stats centre, although admittedly not as good as our own KickForm (shameless plug), and it’s just generally a sweet addition to the sportsbook.

Hollywoodbets Horse Racing Betting Coverage

Really liked that the horse racing section is separate from the main bookie. We know that a lot of them do it like this now, but it’s so extensive that it needs to be. UK, Ireland and interestingly, South Africa dominate the coverage, and all these races have their best odds guaranteed promo linked to them. There’s livestreaming available if you’ve bet on the race (minimum £0.10), and the cards have a short blurb about the race if you’re looking for tips. With extra places paid on bigger field races, sharp betting odds and a relatively easy racecard to navigate, there’s a lot to like.

Hollywoodbets Tennis Betting Coverage

In terms of coverage, tennis betting is right up there with football. You’ve got tournaments from the WTA and ATP literally every day, and the live betting section is popping when you’ve got so much to bet on. In fact, the match centre for live betting is brilliant, and you can watch games unfold as if you were playing on a Nintendo 64 back in the day (IYKYK). Min bets again start from £0.10, but we couldn’t find out max payouts for tennis, which is a little disappointing.

eSports

The rise of eSports betting is real and Hollywoodbets are on board. It’s dominated by League of Legends, CS2, Dota 2 and Overwatch 2, with tons of tournaments to bet on. Market coverage is also massive, with 130+ per game. The only niggle is that there’s no live streaming or just a link to the Twitch stream, which most bookies have. Deal breaker? No, but it’s one of those that’d be nice to have.

Let’s face it, betting is 90% about getting the best odds as often as you can. And a key part of our Hollywoodbets review is seeing how they stack up against the competition. So, we’ve done just that, by taking three markets from three sports, comparing the odds and then giving an overround (how much commission they charge) from each.

Note – the lower the percentage, the better.

It’s always a good test putting these so-called “smaller” bookies up against the big boys like bet365 and BetVictor, as it gives a true base to see how good they really are. And the verdict for Hollywoodbets? Not too bad at all.

They’re super close with bet365 in the football, with BetVictor smashing that. They dropped off in cricket, but since this is less popular, it’ll have more variance. For the NFL, beating BetVictor is no mean feat, as they’re one of the best NFL betting sites in the game.

Overall, a solid effort. They’re not going to be best price on every market, but this shows they’re close and a good alternative to the main brands.

Hollywoodbets Live Betting

We’ve got a separate section for live betting, which is good. In terms of sports coverage, you’ve got all the big hitters such as football, cricket, tennis, basketball, and even eSports.

Market coverage is dependent on the sport and the game. For example, English Premier League games rotate around 80 live markets, whereas lower leagues such as the National League have fewer than 30. A good amount, but not as big as bet365 or BetVictor for context.

Hollywoodbets Cash Out

Cash out is available on football, tennis and basketball. Available markets have a little cash out icon next to them, but it covers most of these sports.

Admittedly, it’s a little disappointing that this hasn’t been extended into the wider sportsbook. This isn’t a new feature now by any means and most bookies only restrict it for a few markets (Asian handicaps, etc.), not most of the sportsbook. What’s there works well, and the cash out is processed quickly, but we want it to cover more sports, so that’s the only frustrating thing with it.

Hollywoodbets Bet Builder

The bet builder is probably our favourite feature within this Hollywoodbets review. The range of markets is superb, and we loved that you can easily jump between popular, match and team bets.

But the kicker is the odds. We compared similar bets to bet365 and BetVictor (as we did in the odds section above), and they were right up there every time. What you’ll find with some bookies is that they charge massive amounts of juice for these bets, offering little to no value at all, but that’s not the case here, and it’s for this reason that this is one of the best bet builders we’ve tested.

Our issues with withdrawing were well documented earlier in our Hollywoodbets UK review, and we’ve used the customer support team to help with that extensively. Overall, they are very good, but there’s room for improvement.

The easiest way to get in touch is via live chat. Initially, you’re chatting with an AI Bot —Holly, in our case — and responses are instant. But you can ask to speak to a human, and, after a couple of minutes, they will contact you.

For our withdrawal issue, we were then “upgraded” to email, which was fine for the most part, but the response time could be as long as 48 hours, which is too long. Sometimes responses were very generic, almost as if it wasn’t a human response.
