The last eight heats of the Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 take place on Saturday, and it’s just as exciting as Friday. We’ve got the tips and a few accas to knock your socks off.

Let's take a look at the top contenders for each race. Some of the best dogs in the country race on Saturday, so picking your favourites can be tricky business.

We’ve gone through each race, reviewed the previous results and have come up with our best value picks for each heat.

Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Odds – Saturday

Here are our top Irish Greyhound Derby betting picks for each race, with odds from bet365.

Saturday RacesGreyhoundOdds
Race 1Bombay Pat1/2
Race 2Hackney Corner11/25
Race 3Callaway Knegare11/4
Race 4Proper Heiress9/10
Race 5Ballinabola Joe1/2
Race 6Coloursaregreen9/4
Race 7Hopes Teddy5/2
Race 8Swords Style2/1

It’s one of the more obvious outcomes of the night. Bombay Pat has been tipped in and around the top five as an outright winner since the odds were first released, so we expect Bombay Pat to grab a win. Ballymac Tibet, at 3/1, could be good value too, if you don’t want to back a favourite.

Hackney Corner is another heavy favourite for the race. He recorded one of the fastest times in round one (29.43) and shouldn't find much opposition in this heat. Not much value in betting on someone else here.

Now this is a race. Phoenix Memphis, Callaway Knegare, and Glengar Silent are all priced similarly. Callaway Knegare is predicted to finish third in the race odds, but he’s got the best outright odds of the three. We’re spotting some potential value in that, and are predicting Callaway Knegare to win. A forecast and tricast could be great too.

Proper Heiress is already tipped in the top five on the outrights, so he, that’s right, he, is by far the favourite to progress and win this round. He also recorded a rapid 29.45 race time, which is better than all his opponents. Lemon Joey actually ran a 29.47 race, though, so this could also be a potentially risky, but rewarding pick.

Ballinabola Joe is in one of the easier groups of the night. His odds are way lower than second favourite Maireads Diamond, who’s priced at 4/1. He should have no issue winning this race.

Coloursaregreen is not the favourite for the race, but his position in the third trap makes him best suited on the night. However, Rural Pest did run a slightly faster time, so we’re taking a bit of a risk on this one.

Hopes Teddy is another runner who’s not a favourite on the night, but has the best odds in the outright markets. We’re smelling good value, and that’s the scent we’re following on this tip. This race is another opportunity for a forecast or tricast on Westway Rossa and Magical Sapphire.

We’re back to backing the favourites. It’s close, but Swords Style has solid odds, and ran the fastest time in the first round too. Can any of the other racers outpace Swords Style? Well, No More Fiftys, Magical Keith and Droopys Deploy all have odds lower than 4/1 as well.

Irish Greyhound Derby Acca Tips for Round 2 – Saturday

You think we’d just leave you with our predictions without putting them in a few cheeky accas? Well, we’ve got a number of accumulator bets which can be great if you fancy taking big risks for big rewards.

Play Safe and Back the Favourites – 12/5

Our first acca tip is the safest, not that safe bets really exist in greyhound betting, and we’re backing the three runners that have the shortest odds. Those are Bombay Pat in race 1 (1/2), Hackney Corner in Race 2 (11/25), and Ballinabola Joe in Race 5 (1/2).

They’re the heavy favourites for a reason, and we back each one of them to pull through on Saturday.

Back the Racers in the Outright Top 10 – 15/1

Four racers are already placed in the top 10 of the Outright Irish Greyhound Derby odds, so we’re backing them to do well this round. The four racers are Bombay Pat in Race 1 (1/2), Hackney Corner in Race 2 (11/25), Callaway Knegare in Race 3 (11/4) and Proper Heiress in Race 4 (9/10).

The odds are getting a lot bigger, but these are the top dogs for a reason. Backing them could definitely go in your favour, since the bookies are clearly something worth betting on.

Back our Non-Favourite Tips – 42/1

A number of our tips for Saturday’s races aren’t actually the favourites. These provide good value and potentially higher odds, but this does come with added risks. We advise you to tread with caution in these tricky areas.

The dogs we’re backing here are Callaway Knegare in Race 3 (11/4), Coloursaregreen in Race 6 (9/4), and Hopes Teddy in Race 7 (5/2). Those are some massive odds for some truly fierce contenders.

Go The Full Monty and Back Our Eight Predictions – 828/1

Are you mad? Oh, fair enough. Well, this eight-fold acca is massive and the odds are unbelievable. Obviously, we don’t expect this to come off, but if you’re willing to risk, say 50p, you can walk away with over £400. Don’t put your hopes up, though.
