Enhanced odds are any kind of promotion where you receive a boost on the odds of a certain market or event. That is the core concept behind everything we’re going to look at here. You may be wondering, then, why there is any confusion surrounding this subject; the answer is that a lot of it has to do with labelling.

enhanced odds offers

Enhanced odds and price boosts generally seem to mean the same thing. However, price boosts have a reputation for being generous, and can occasionally be used to mean price rush, which we’ll discuss shortly.

Basically, there’s no set name here, with either of the two terms generally offering a straightforward increase on odds on selected markets.

There are still some variables at this basic level. A key variable is whether they are available on markets selected for you or whether you get to choose the market. This is down to the bookmaker’s preference. Often though, popular markets will be where you get the most generous enhanced offers, with those you can pick for yourself being smaller. The reason for this is that the operator is more comfortable offering incentives on certain markets, and often the more freedom you get in this regard, the less generous the boost is. However, we have seen some very generous ‘boosting your own odds' promotions as well.

That is usually what you will find. You’ll log on and you will either be able to pick from a bunch of selected odds boosts or there will be one picked out for you in an enhanced odds/price boost section, allowing you to see if any tickle your fancy. Some options though do get creative with this rather straightforward concept. So, let us break down some of the most common examples.

Price Rush

price boost offers

This is another one we have seen a few variations of, with a Price Rush being made most famous by Betfair. Generally speaking, a Price Rush will be a promotion which offers enhanced odds but within a short space of time. It could be within a matter of hours or even minutes within certain circumstances. The maximum time period we think could be reasonable to be considered a Price Rush would be a few days up to a week, at the absolute most. And that is it, really – it’s that crunch of time which separates this kind of bonus.

The good news with this is that they can often be quite generous. We suppose as less people will have time to utilise the Price Rush, some operators think they can afford to be a little bit more generous. However, this may not always be the case. Generally though, Price Rush promotions offer decent value, but you’ll need to act fast to avoid missing out.

In-Play Goal Boosts

There’s actually quite a few enhanced odds offers that are specific to certain markets, but this is one we saw appear most frequently. The in-play aspect here allows you could get a market for a goal to be scored in the next 30 seconds, with the odds increasing as the seconds tick by.

It’s a great use of in-play betting and a really creative way of getting people involved in an occasionally overlooked market. Do keep in mind, though, that an unwise bet is still an unwise bet. So, take the opportunity if you think it’s worth it, but don’t be tempted to waste money on poor quality markets.

Price Match

A Price Match (or Price Promise) might not always be considered to be under enhanced odds, but they can still function as the latter. So, we view them as being relevant to this conversation.

Essentially, this is a promise that the odds you are getting will best or joint best odds on that market from a list of bookmakers. Usually, this only applies to types of horse race and on certain races, but it can occasionally be found on other markets. As you can imagine, it is quite the ask considering the amount of competition that is out there. In any case, this is absolutely worth your while wherever you can find it.

Do note it is similar to a Best Odds Guaranteed promotion, but often, BOG only means that you get the best odds from that bookmaker regardless of what time you put it on. It does not always necessarily mean you’re getting the best odds in comparison to other bookmakers. This is also still a great promotion though, and you should check out our best odds guaranteed bookmakers list for more details.

Enhanced Place Term

This is another one you will usually find on horse racing, but it can, in theory, be utilised on any sport where each way bets and place bets can apply. Essentially, this promotion increases the place terms. Say, for instance, you would usually get paid out on 3. With Enhanced Place Terms, this could be moved up to four increasing your chances of winning.

We suppose this is a different type of promotion to an extent, but there appears to be a lot of confusion as to how they relate to enhanced odds. And, as it works in a similar manner, we thought it best to clear up any confusion here. What’s not confusing, though, is the obvious value this represents.

Double Odds/Triple Odds Enhanced Offers

This is a pretty rare one and it is easy to understand why. This promo can double or even triple your winnings in certain circumstances. Say, for instance, you are backing a team to win. They may offer a great payout if they win by a certain margin, or, if you have a first goalscorer bet, you may get more if they score within the first 10 minutes.

Obviously, doubling or tripling the odds is huge. That’s why you don’t see it very often. However, if you do and it is on a market you think is worth backing, we suggest you snap it up.

New Customer Enhanced Odds Promotions

This is another one where you can pretty much understand the offer from the title alone. This is any kind of enhanced odds promotion that is only for new customers. The downside to this is pretty obvious: it’s available to fewer people and cannot be redeemed by existing customers. However, as is often the case with welcome offers, they are generally more generous. As an aside, if you are only interested in existing customer offers, there’s plenty of existing customer free bet club offers for you to check out, so don’t worry about any shortage in that regard.

Enhanced Odds Accumulator

Whether or not you can use enhanced odds on accumulators is down to the bookmaker, as is the case with accumulator bonus offers in general. Often, you’ll get them on an entire accumulators. The differences here can be pretty huge. This is a similar promotion to the percentage boosts you often get on accumulators. However, these are standard across all markets.

Enhanced odds on selected accumulators do tend to be much more generous and are definitely worth your consideration, as these can actually provide some interesting market selections.

We think it’s fair to say that enhanced odds represent some of the best value you’ll find in any kind of promotion. When it come to the best betting promotions, they are always up there. They don’t really have any difficult terms like wagering requirements to contend with, at least not usually. In fact, quite often, you will end up utilising enhanced odds just by doing what you would have done anyway. And when that is possible – when you can essentially get benefits with no additional effort – that’s the sign of serious promotional quality.

As a more specific example, we checked out the operator William Hill. At the time of writing, they had enhanced odds on Jonny Bairstow being the top England Batsman. The original odds were 3/1, and they are now 5/2. That 3/1 translates to 25%, while 5/2 translates to 28.6%. That means you are getting over 3% extra on your winnings. Considering that this doesn’t require anything extra from you, if you were going to bet on it anyway, then that is about as close to something for nothing as you are going to find in any kind of promotion.

So, considering that, why do bookmakers offer these promotions? Why would they willingly give away extra winnings, which is essentially what these bonuses do? It’s a question that makes some people rather nervous about promotions generally, but it really is pretty straightforward.

There are two key reasons in our opinion. One is they want to encourage bets to certain markets. These would be markets they think can attract a lot of business, and they want to give you an incentive to place a wager on them. Essentially, it’s like advertising. It’s a little different to an offer in a supermarket; they want you to choose them for that product (market), and are willing to give something away in order to encourage that.

The other reason also plays into what we just discussed. All bookmakers are locked in intense competition, all the time. We talk a lot here about just how vast the betting world is. Well, for them, that means they have to provide the best possible product they can. Ultimately, their site members are the ones with the power here. Always remember that. They are pursuing you, and not the other way around. It's because of this that they have to keep their offers to an excellent quality to ensure their customers don’t leave for their competitors.

So, this kind of generosity is in part there to improve the overall quality of the product. This is especially the case with this type of promotion, because it is so easy to understand, is accessible and easy for beginners. It attracts a wide, casual betting audience and that is absolutely paramount to their success.

We hope that you can see now that good promotions are out there. In fact, they are out there in vast quantities. Because of this, you hold the power as the one making the choice as to which betting site to sign up to. Not only does a smart operator offering good promotions make sense, but they’d be fools not to. It’s just good business.

Enhanced odds are generally pretty simple promotions. Indeed, that is part of the beauty of them. However, there are a couple of things in the terms and conditions you will want to look out for. Obviously, as the terms are individual to each bookmaker. But these are some of the most common and pressing to take into account when evaluating a promotion’s value.

enhanced betting odds

Minimum/Maximum Stake:

This one is fairly self-explanatory. The operator may have both a minimum and a maximum stake that can be placed on enhanced odds markets. This is, naturally, to mitigate their risk. If this is not made immediately obvious, you can ask customer service or simply try placing the bet you want. If it isn’t rejected, then it doesn’t seem likely that you have passed the threshold.

Deposit Methods:

Just like with any other promotion, the operator has the right to refuse certain promotions for certain deposit methods. The most often restrictions we see are on e-wallets like NETELLER and Skrill.

Country Restrictions:

As is the case with deposit limits, the operator can – or indeed, may have to for several reasons – restrict promotions to some countries. This should be made clear on their general term and conditions.

Only for New Customers:

One really important thing to make sure of is that the market is available to you. Some are only available to new customers or those who have registered/deposited within a certain time frame. It could be only available to those who signed up within two weeks, for instance.

Other than this, time limits aren’t usually as big a factor in enhanced odds, as the limits are naturally applied when the market is no longer available. However, here it is a factor.

Maximum Winnings:

There may be a limit on the maximum amount you can win from enhanced odds bets. This isn’t always clear, so feel free to ask customer service if there is any confusion in this regard.

Free Bet:

One really important point is whether the extra money is paid in free bets or in cash. If they are paid in free bets, that means you cannot withdraw that money until you place a bet with it and win. Also worth noting is the fact that you can often cannot use free bets on those markets.

One of the things we always say about promotions in general is that they are subject to change. This is generally true, and enhanced odds are one of the most prime of candidates, as they're often adapted for specific events.

The below bookies are our top three picks for price boosts online.

William Hill: Top Price Guaranteed Enhanced Odds

We used William Hill as our chosen example earlier, and with good reason. The enhanced odds William Hill has to offer form a terrific selection for customers. It didn’t take us longer than a few moments to find an excellent example and they are all over the place, across a wide variety of different markets with real value attached to every single one we looked at. It’s that variety and consistency which really helps them stand apart.

What really puts William Hill over the top here are their Top Price Guaranteed Enhanced Odds. While this offer isn’t something they could do across all markets, having a mixture provides as much value as possible across as many markets as possible. For those that do qualify though, they compare against bet365, Paddy Power, BetVictor, Sky Bet, Ladbrokes, Coral and Betfred, and guarantee the best odds available. You can’t ask for much better than that.

Paddy Power: Power Prices

This bookmaker is probably best known for the amazing value they offer on horse racing markets, and it is indeed those which take centre stage here. The first example of a Paddy Power Power Prices offer was indeed several on upcoming horse racing markets.

If you are a little confused about the terminology here, don’t worry – there are no new concepts to learn. Remember earlier when we said enhanced odds can come in a variety of names and brands? Well, this is a perfect example. Speaking of examples, all that we looked at on Paddy Power significantly increased the value of those selected markets. And it is not just horse racing either, with a variety of sports also benefiting from the Power Price treatment, especially football.

But that is not all. In addition, Paddy Power also offers enhanced place terms on a daily basis. On selected races, those with less than 16 starters will have four places paid; less than eight starters will have eight places paid; and less than six starters will have two places paid. It’s a dual threat of promotional brilliance.

Betfair: Odds Boost and Price Rush

Frankly, Betfair rarely puts a foot wrong in the world of betting. They have an amazing selection of markets, the world’s largest betting exchange, great casino options and excellent promotions all around. Not only are they a jack-of-all-trades, but they also have proven their ability to innovate. The Cash Out feature is the perfect example of this. But before we get to another innovation, let’s talk about their odds boosts.

Betfair makes seeing what enhanced odds are available nice and easy, and you can even see them a few days in advance, so you have plenty of time to make your decision. And of course, this is Betfair, so they offer very competitive value compared to other similar promotions.

In addition to this is their spin on the Price Rush. This is not just a promotion; it is a way to bridge the gap between the sportsbook and the exchange. Do note that this is their interpretation of the Price Rush, so is distinct from what we discussed before, which is how most promotions that bear this name operate. Here, though, they check the exchange for better odds, and if a better price is available then the odds get transferred, so you will get the best odds whether you are using the sportsbook or the exchange. This is available on win only bets, football, horse racing, tennis, golf and basketball. What can we say – they’ve done it again!

Often, promotions are only useful to certain types of bettors. It could be that you need to be betting a certain amount within a specified time frame to reap the rewards, or it may only be available for new customers, or on accumulators, for instance. Enhanced odds have something to offer pretty much any sports betting fan.

If a market you are interested in has enhanced odds, it’s one of the few bonuses out there that doesn’t really have a downside. You are betting as you would normally, but with a potential to get a higher return. It could also provide you with interest in markets you hadn’t considered before. This is one of the simplest, most accessible and generous bonus types around, bar none.

Enhanced odds are any kind of promotion where the usual odds offered are improved. There’s plenty of scope beyond that. Check out our “What are enhanced odds?” section for specifics, but that is the fundamental premise here.

Often, there is no difference at all except in name only. There are also many different names this promotion can go by, like odds boosts and power prices.

They will simply be offered to you either through a promotion or just on the sportsbook itself. Place your bet as normal and reap the rewards – it should be as simple as that.

They can be, yes. In fact, some enhanced odds are only available in-play. It all depends on the bookmaker.

Usually, enhanced odds are available to all users of a betting site, barring any country or banking restrictions. However, some enhanced odds are occasionally offered only to new customers. This should be made immediately obvious by the operator.
