If you put this into a treble, you get odds of 9.99/1 which would give you a £99.96 profit from a £10 bet. Let’s look into why we think our selections will come home.
Chelsea vs Los Angeles: Chelsea to win/BTTS (Odds 15/8)
The Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta plays host as Conference League winners Chelsea face US Open Cup holders Los Angeles FC. Enzo Maresca’s side ended their season with eight wins from nine matches in all competitions, while Los Angeles is unbeaten in their last 10.
Chelsea have included the likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernández and Moises Caicedo in their squad for the tournament along with new signing Liam Delap. We expect them to have too much for Steven Cherundolo’s side; however, Los Angeles have averaged 1.88 goals per game in the Western Conference this season and have scored at least twice per game in their 10-match unbeaten run. We think that given Chelsea’s recent habit of conceding early that they will get on the scoresheet.
Boca Juniors vs Benfica: Orkun Kökçü to Score or Assist (Odds 5/4)
Boca Juniors come into this tournament after exiting the Torneo Apertura at the hands of Independiente. Boss Fernando Gago was relieved of his duties and Miguel Angel Russo has taken charge of Boca for the third time. The Buenos Aires side, boasting a number of experienced players who have cut it in Europe’s top leagues, will be looking to get back on track and prove a point.
Benfica will be keen to make an impact on this tournament after missing out to Sporting for the Primeira Liga title in Portugal. Boss Bruno Lage has a strong squad to choose from and the Eagles will go into this one as favourites.
Orkun Kökçü created 76 chances in the Primeira Liga last season, more than any other player in the division. He ended the season with 14 goal involvements, and we think he is a great bet to come out of the first match of this tournament with a goal or an assist.
Flamengo vs Esperance de Tunis: Over 2.5 Goals (Odds 7/10)
The second Group D match sees Brazilian giants Flamengo take on Esperance de Tunis, who have won eight Tunisian titles in the last nine seasons. They were crowned champions last season, and a tally of 57 goals in 30 matches suggests that they will be confident in front of goal.
Along with Chelsea, Flamengo are expected to progress from the group. Former Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luís has Fla playing a front-foot pressing game which has seen them score 24 times in eleven league matches this season. A great total in Brazil’s Serie A which is renowned for its defensive organisation. Their average of 2.18 goals per game is well ahead of the next best (Mirassol with 1.55 goals per game). The tactics have also been successful with the Rubro-Negro sitting on top of Serie A at the time of writing.
We think that there will be goals in this one. So, we are confident in adding Over 2.5 to our acca.
