AFCON Betting Offers
This is the biggest month in African football, and to celebrate, the bookies are going all out. We’ve got three cracking betting offers for you to use from three of our best football betting sites for African Cup of Nations betting odds.
AFCON Betting Markets
As one of the premier international football tournaments, the range of betting markets is extensive. You’re going to have access to things like match result, over/under total goals and of course, both teams to score. But we wanted to showcase some markets that are a bit more niche, specific to AFCON odds and to highlight the diversity you can find here.
With such a massive influx of players that are plying their trade at various clubs around Europe, some of the top bookies give you access to a market where you can bet on the top scorer for players from here.
For example, people like Ismaila Sarr, Bryan Mbeumo and Alex Iwobi from just the Premier League. It’s a niche market, for sure, but one where you can find value outside of the wider goalscorer markets.
Betting on the region that the winner of AFCON comes from can be a good option if you’re looking to narrow the field somewhat. For example, you might look at the top West African nation and choose between Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast. The AFCON betting odds will, obviously, be lower than the main outright, but you’re paying for a slightly more condensed market here.
The host nation markets are always interesting. These usually include things like the stage of the tournament they will reach, how many goals they will score/concede, if they will go unbeaten on their way to winning, etc.
Straight down the middle with this one; pick which player will score the most goals across the entire tournament. If it’s a tie, for payout purposes, dead heat rules will apply.
Pick a single nation to qualify from their group. It’s no more complicated than that.
How to Bet on AFCON
The process of betting on AFCON is incredibly straightforward. We’ve used one of our best betting sites, bet365, to show you a step-by-step guide on exactly how this works.
When Does AFCON Start?
AFCON starts on Sunday, 21st December 2025 and runs for the best part of a month, completing on 18th January 2025. It’s a slightly earlier start than usual due to the timing of the summer FIFA World Cup.
Format for The African Cup of Nations 2025
The format kicks off with 24 nations competing for the coveted prize of AFCON champions. Here’s how it works.
Group Stage
All 24 nations enter an initial group stage, with six AFCON groups of four teams. It’s a single-round-robin format, with each team playing three games. There are three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss.
The top two teams in the group automatically qualify for the next stage, with the four best third-placed teams across all six groups.
Knockout Stage
Once it gets to the last 16, it’s a straight knockout. These are single games played over 90 minutes, and, if needed, they will be decided by extra time and/or penalties.
The format includes: Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, third-place play-off and then the AFCON final, which is on 18 January 2026 in Rabat.
Where to Watch AFCON
Sky Sports have the rights to show all 52 games, but if you’re without a subscription, the BBC have access to 10 games, including the AFCON final.
On top of this, some of the best livestreaming betting sites will also have games to watch for free. Most, like bet365 for example, will have streams for free, as long as you’ve a funded account (just 1p is fine) or have placed a bet on that game.
