England v Panama

England were dominant in the first half against Tunisia and would’ve been 2 or 3-0 up at half time was in not for profligate finishing from the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jesse Lingard.

Panama are probably the worst side at the tournament along with Saudi Arabia and it showed against Belgium. They are quite an old squad and are likely to struggle against the young and lively England forward line. They will try make it as tough as they can and try and get something but the gap in quality should tell, going forward they have very little and have failed to score in 5 of their last 6, the exception being against Trinidad and Tobago.

Predictions: 2-0, 3-0

Japan v Senegal

Both these sides went off as underdogs in the betting for their openers. Japan took advantage of a Colombia side that had to play 85 minuted with 10 men, and Senegal comfortably dispatched a poor Poland side.

With both sides winning their first game, a draw wouldn’t be a surprising result here. Senegal have the physical advantage which could prove pivotal, the strength and height of Salif Sane and Kalidou Koulibaly at the back as well as the pace of M’baye Niang, Saudi Mane and Ismaila Sarr going forward.

Japan have two experienced full backs in Sakai and Nagatomo but their age could tell against the aforementioned attacking trio. I’d err towards Senegal here, I think they have a stronger squad than Japan but given the scenario I wouldn’t be surprised with a draw.

Predictions: 0-0, 1-1, 1-2

Poland v Colombia

Both sides were underwhelming in their opening encounters, especially Poland. They struggled down the right hand side with the ageing Piszczek and Blaszczykowski and they lack creativity in midfield, the supply to their star man Robert Lewandowski was non-existent.

Colombia were knocked back by an early red card for Davinson Sanchez, however they managed to get back in the game but ultimately ended as the losing side. They’re favourites here and deservedly so, going forward they have quality in Quintero and James as well as the finishing ability of Falcao. I think they can cause more problems for Poland than Poland can for them.

Predictions: 0-1, 1-2, 1-3
