Despite Tottenham’s loss to AZ Alkmaar last week, they’re still favourites to win the tie at 9/20 compared to AZ’s 21/4 on bet365.

Spurs’ and AZ’s odds to qualify are much closer though, at 33/50 for Tottenham and 11/10 for AZ on bet365.

Tottenham’s form has been dreadful – 4 losses and 1 draw in their last 7 matches saw them sink further into chaos.

AZ Alkmaar have it much better with 5 wins in their last 7.

Despite this clear difference in trends, betting on AZ could prove risky, since Tottenham will be throwing everything at them, while AZ will be happy with a draw.

An ‘AZ to qualify’ bet is the way to go if your heart is set on backing the Dutch. Spreadex have the best odds at 13/10.

If you think Tottenham will go through, a ‘to win’ bet for Spurs is more valuable than a ‘to qualify’ bet by any metric.

But really, the odds are too close to justify choosing a ‘qualify bet’ over a ‘win bet’, especially since Tottenham need a two-goal lead to qualify in 90 mins and only one goal to win your bet.

Despite all this nonsense, Tottenham are still outright Europa League favourites at 11/2 on Spreadex.

Their main rivals Lazio, who are similarly priced, could be waiting for them in the Semis. It’s a pretty good price, considering Tottenham should, in theory, be able to beat anyone.

With their Premier League season in tatters, this is Spurs’ only chance at silverware, and it’s already an uphill battle. But if they could win the entire competition, this would be their best season in decades.

Ange is ranked as the 2nd likeliest manager to get the sack, priced at 9/2 with Coral. Keep an eye out on the odds if Spurs lose this match, as they will definitely drop.

Postecoglou made an instant impact when he joined in the 23/24 season – winning 3 Manager of the Month awards in a row. He’s been nominated again for this February, so hopefully that will keep him in the job a little longer. A good run here will likely save him.
