Paddy Power Hit the Spot Explained

Paddy Power offered its new and existing customers the option to take part in a free game named Hit the Spot that ran everyday. As it allowed players to win free cash, it ended up being one of the most popular promotions on the site.

Hit the Spot was essentially a mini-video game where you could to try to score goals from various angles. The best goal scorers were then rewarded with cash prizes.

Punters had to try score as many points as possible with up to 10 penalties a day, getting in with the chance to win up to £1,000 daily! This would be split equally between all players who achieved a score equal or greater to that day’s target, with the best score of the day being what counted.

Points were calculated as follows:

  • Goal = 1 point
  • Top Corner Penalty = 2 points
  • 3 Target = 3 points
  • 5 Target = 5 points

When playing daily for free, punters could earn points on the weekly leaderboard in order to obtain a prize. They could also win in-game gold if the monthly target shown in the game was reached, which could then be used for in-game purchases.

The Paddy Power Hit the Spot prize structure was as follows:

4th – 10th20
11th – 50th10
51st – 100th5
101st – 1,600th1

When playing Paddy Power Hit The Spot, punters had to aim a penalty kick towards the targets in a goalpost, which consisted of numbers showing how many points will be won if the target was reached. The game became harder to play as it progressed, with targets that move around at a faster pace, making it harder to score.

Paddy Power Hit the Spot – Rules

  • Step 1: Players first launched the Hit the Spot game.
  • Step 2: They then checked the wind speed and direction.
  • Step 3: You had to move left or right to curve the ball.
  • Step 4: The ball was then dragged towards the goal and then ‘kicked'.
  • Step 5: Hitting specific targets, such as corners, resulted in bigger prizes.
  • Between 00:00 and 21:00 every day, each punter could use up to 10 shots. These were not carried on to the next day if left unused.
  • The daily prize was split evenly between all winning players at the end of each contest.
  • This offer was available for new and existing customers at Paddy Power, aged 18 and over.
  • Prize money was paid in cash.
  • Weekly prizes were credited for the previous week by 12pm the following week.
  • The leader board updated by 6am daily.
  • The maximum weekly free bet was £100.
  • Power ups had a maximum stake of £10.
  • Prizes were valid for 7 days.

As Hit the Spot was a rather limited video game, there were only a few tips that we could come up with.

  1. Practising was important: Like any video game, you had to play it often in order to get a feel for it.
  2. Carpe diem: Logging into your account everyday gave you a daily free chance at cash and higher chances of winning.
  3. The wind was an important factor: The wind was an important factor in this game. Before you attempted any shot, you had to make sure to check the wind arrow and flags for wind speed and direction.

The game offered a free chance at real prizes, so we think it was worth it.

Yes! In Paddy Power’s Beat the Drop promo, you need to answer 13 sports-related questions correctly every week for a chance at your share of the £5,000 prize pool. And of course, the bookie also offers an excellent welcome bonus.

Paddy Power Hit The Spot was discontinued in 2021 and is no longer available to play.

Although Paddy Power Hit the Spot was an enjoyable, FREE game that will be much missed, we do think that their Beat the Drop game is more than a suitable alternative. Don't forget to check out the other popular promotions we listed further above too!
