FedEx St. Jude Betting Odds, Betting Tips, Promotions & Predictions
In this section, we’ll provide betting tips and display the odds for the St. Jude Championship when they become available on the best golf betting sites. We’re coming off an excellent week after tipping Aaron Rai (33-1) to win the Wyndham Championship.
FedEx St. Jude Championship Betting Tips & Predictions 2024
Here are some betting tips and predictions we’ve gathered from the best online bookies to help you place well-informed bets.
Rory McIlroy 10/1 E/W (1/4 1-5)
Rory McIlroy endured a slow start to the season, but in the second half of it, he’s been red hot. In his last eight starts, the Northern Irishman has notched five top-5 finishes, including a win at the Wells Fargo Championship. He’s coming off a T5 at the Olympics, and prior to that, he recorded the following results: MC, T4, 2, T15, T4, T12 and 1.
The World No. 3 hasn’t won at TPC Southwind but is no stranger to success during the FedEx Cup Playoffs. McIlroy has won the Tour Championship three times (2016, 2019, and 2022), which is tied for the most titles with Tiger Woods.
While a fifth major has eluded him for over a decade, during which he’s suffered multiple heartbreaks (most recently at the U.S. Open), he’s continued to win on tour consistently, having captured two titles each year since 2021. A win at the FedEx St. Jude would make it three this season.
McIlroy is also listed at +105 to finish top 10 at bet365.
Tommy Fleetwood (22/1 E/W 1/4 1-5)
Last week, Englishman Aaron Rai won his first PGA Tour event at the Wyndham Championship. Fellow countryman Tommy Fleetwood has been knocking on the door of a PGA Tour victory for years now. If you asked any golf fan who they thought would win first, Fleetwood would have been the obvious answer. The world-ranked No. 11 enters the tournament in fine form after earning a silver medal for Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics.
The 33-year-old has earned two top-four finishes at TPC Southwind in two attempts (we’re excluding 2020 and 2021 since the event was played on other tracks). Last year, like McIlroy, he ended the event in a tie for third, one stroke short of the playoff. In his debut at TPC Southwind in 2019, Fleetwood finished in a tie for fourth — five strokes behind winner Brooks Koepka.
On bet365, Fleetwood is +200 to finish inside the top 10 and -134 to finish top 20.
Sungjae Im (30/1 E/W 1/5 1-8)
We tipped Im last week at the Wyndham Championship and are going right back to him this week. After his last two appearances at TPC Southwind (2023 and 2022), where he finished sixth and 12th, it’s safe to say the course fits his eye. ShipItNation’s course fit model ranks him 14th in the field.
The South Korean has been on a tear leading up to the event. Before a T41 at the Wyndham Championship, he’d earned results of T7, T4, T3, MC, T8, T9, MC, T4 and T12.
Im is also a Bermuda grass specialist, which should give him an advantage this week.
bet365 is offering Im at +105 for a top 20 finish if you prefer betting on him in that regard.
Russell Henley (+100 to finish top 20)
While the superstars will be the talk of the week, Russell Henley offers value to finish inside the top 20 at even money.
The University of Georgia product is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Open Championship. Henley has finished inside the top 20 in six of his last 11 events. He also had a stellar showing at the U.S. Open, recording a T7. In two of those 11 events, he finished T23 and T27. Since the field is cut down to 70 players this week, he’ll have an even better chance to replicate his excellent run of top 20s.
The Macon, Georgia native has played well at TPC Southwind in the past, including in 2023 when he finished T6, four strokes back of Glover. He also recorded a T7 in 2016 — six strokes behind champion Daniel Berger.
According to ShipItNation’s model, Henley ranks first in terms of course fit at TPC Southwind. Data Golf’s course fit model ranks him tied for third in the field.

5 Reasons To Bet on the FedEx St. Jude Championship
It is the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
It draws in the best and most in-form PGA Tour players from the current season.
It is played at the popular TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.
Longshots have an opportunity to win (as Glover did last year).
There has been last-minute drama in this tournament. The last three FedEx Cup Playoff openers ended in a playoff (2022 and 2023 were hosted by TPC Southwind).
Popular FedEx St. Jude Championship Betting Markets
There are many markets available to wager on for professional golf. Let's take a look at the most popular.
Outright Winner
This is a straightforward market, where you bet on the golfer you believe will win the event outright. It's ultimately up to you whether to take them each way for added insurance.
First-Round Leader Bets
A first-round leader wager consists of selecting which player will finish first on the leaderboard after the first round concludes. What happens after that is irrelevant — the bet is only used to determine the leader for day one.
3-Ball Betting
This bet entails selecting the top player in groups of three. With 3-ball betting, the stake is for a single round. Your wager will win if your selection shoots the lowest score.
Top 5, 10, 20, 30 or 40 Finish
For this market, you wager on a golfer finishing inside the top 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40. If your selection falls into one of these positions, your slip will be paid. Bookmakers typically offer this for the entire event and/or the first round.
Head-to-Head Matchups
“H2H” matchups require you to choose one of two players lined up against each other by the sportsbook in a single round or throughout the tournament. Operators often provide two players with similar outright odds or close recent results.
In order to win the wager, predict which of the two players will shoot the lower score. If both golfers shoot the same score, it is a push. Best online betting sites UK include a “tie” option, which allows you to bet on either player or the draw. Since it is rare for golfers to shoot identical scores, the draw offers high odds.
Top Golfer by Category
This wager enables you to place bets on a variety of categories, including the top golfer by country. For example, you can stake who will finish as the “Top Spaniard.” If three Spaniards compete, the one who finishes better on the FedEx St. Jude Championship leaderboard after four rounds cashes the ticket.
In major championships, you can bet on the Top LIV Golfer or Top PGA Tour Golfer. If you bet on Bryson DeChambeau to finish as the top LIV player at the U.S. Open, your slip was a winner.
Winner Nationality
Most golf tournaments, including the St. Jude Championship, feature bet types for players from each participating nationality. This is effectively betting on the country of the winner. You win the wager if the tournament's champion is the same nationality as your pick. If you staked the winner of the 2024 Open Championship to be American, your bet was successful since American Xander Schauffele took home the Claret Jug.
Hole-in-One Bets
A hole-in-one bet is a wager on a player hitting the ball into the hole from their first shot on a hole. It is a rare occurrence, so the odds are always plus money. You don't have to pick a specific golfer — as long as a hole-in-one happens during the tournament, you win your wager.
Certain bookmakers let you stake specific players to make a hole-in-one. This is exceedingly difficult to forecast, which is why the odds are astronomically high.
Tournament Structure for the FedEx St. Jude Championship
The FedEx St. Jude Championship — the opener of the prestigious FedEx Cup playoffs — is comprised of players who finished inside the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings.
There won’t be a standard cut after 36 holes of play. Instead, the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the tournament will advance to the following week’s BMW Championship.
At the BMW Championship, 20 more players will be eliminated, setting the stage for the top 30 players to compete at the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
FedEx St. Jude Championship Prize Money
The total purse for the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship is $20 million, with first place receiving $3.6 million. In addition, the winner will also be awarded 2,000 FedEx Cup points, which can help them lock in a spot for the BMW Championship and Tour Championship.
This year’s edition holds the same payout as the 2023 edition. Last season, Lucas Glover claimed the title and took home $3.6 million after defeating Patrick Cantlay in a playoff.
History of the FedEx St. Jude Championship
The St. Jude Championship, inaugurated as the Memphis Open in 1958, has a long tradition of supporting philanthropic causes. In 1969, musician Danny Thomas linked the tournament to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, cementing its charity status. The tournament shifted to TPC Southwind in 1989.
TPC Southwind became host to the first playoff event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the 2022 PGA Tour season. Before, it was considered a World Golf Championship (WGC) and a “classic,” which is a standard tournament on the PGA Tour schedule.
Recent St. Jude Championship Winners at TPC Southwind
This list is comprised only of previous winners at the St. Jude hosted by TPC Southwind. It does not include strictly champions of the first FedEx Cup playoff event. As previously noted, it wasn’t considered the first playoff event until 2022.
