How Does Each-Way Betting Work in Golf?
Each-way betting means you're wagering on two things. Firstly, that the player you chose will win the tournament, and secondly (if the player doesn't win), that the player will end up in the top places.
The number of places and the fraction of the bet to be won back is determined by the betting site in question. For example, if the selection you chose offers 1/4 odds for 5 places, this means that if the player you pick doesn't win the US Masters, you will still get some return if he finishes in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th place. The return is calculated as 1/4 multiplied by your initial stake with the odds when you placed the bet.
If your initial bet was on Rory McIlroy at odds of 14/1 with a £100 stake with 1/4 each-way for 5 places, the following options are possible:
