Darts World Championship Betting Tips
Before we jump into our Darts World Championship betting tips, if you want to bet on either of the Luke’s, go for it. Both Littler and Humphries are the best two in the world right now, and priced at 11/8 and 9/2 respectively, it’s tough to challenge either bet. But, if you’re looking for an outsider or someone to make a run, here’s who we think will go well on the biggest stage.
Gian van Veen – 16/1 William Hill
Fresh off the back of his first PDC title at the European Championship, we have Dutch darting sensation, Gian van Veen. Now, if you’d backed him a week before his win at the World Darts Championship 2025 odds of 20/1, then kudos to you, but even at 16/1, he’s still good value.
It’s undoubtedly a breakout season for van Geen. The 23-year-old has made quarter-final appearances in both the UK Open and World Matchplay, along with a semi-final in the World Cup of Darts. He won at Players Championship 6 in Leicester and is now a career-high seventh in the world rankings. This will only be his second appearance at the World Championships, but he’s in red-hot form, and these youngsters don’t fear the old guard like they used to. Get on at 16/1 with the best betting sites before he shortens.
James Wade – 80/1 BetMGM
If you ever needed an explanation of how darts is changing, the fact that James Wade, at 42, is now considered a veteran in the game, then this is it. It’s no longer an old man's sport, but there’s a lot of life left in Wade yet, and at 80/1, that’s a monster price for someone who’s just dismantled Luke Littler in the European Championship to prolong his quest for world number one.
However, it was revenge for Wade, as he had already lost both the UK Open and World Matchplay finals to Littler this season. They’re positive signs, and given he’s number five in the world right now, 80/1 each-way is the biggest value bet of the week.
Popular World Championship Darts Betting Markets
The buzz surrounding the World Championships is like no other. Bookies know that more people than usual want to bet on the sport, so to tap into that, they offer more markets. Here’s a look at what you can expect to find and incorporate into your wider sports betting strategy to boost those profits.
The most popular market is outright betting. Simply bet on the player you think will loft that Sid Waddell trophy in the first weekend of January.
As the name suggests, bet on a player to make the final. They don’t need to win it, just be a part of the final two.
For individual players, you can bet on the minimum round they will make. For example, Luke Littler to make the semi-final or Josh Rock to make the quarter-final.
There are 128 players total and split into two halves of the draw. Betting on top or bottom gives you a pool of 64 players, and if one of them wins, you win.
This is a tournament market where you bet on the player to have the most 180s across the entire World Championships.
An increasingly popular market is the total 180s for the tournament. In 2025, there were 907.
A simple yes or no market. Bet on whether you think someone will land the holy grail of darts. Note – there has been one every year since 2021, and 16 in total.

bet365 have hit the bullseye. Here’s why…
Jonathan Askew: I’ve yet to come across a bookie better than bet365 for darts betting. They’ve got it all. I absolutely love the bet builder features. It’s a standout with tons of match, 180, finishes and totals markets to choose from; you can be as creative as you want. On top of this, they have the best PDC World Championship odds that I’ve tested, and they usually throw an offer or two when the tournament kicks off. They’re the best, and if I could only pick one, bet365 would be it.
Additional PDC World Darts Championship Insights
At TPP, we want to give you all the tools to find the best Darts odds for the World Championship and point you in the right direction to find a bit of value. But we get that some of you like the research part of it all, so we’ve got a few pointers below that, teamed up with some cracking darts free bets, should help when at the oche.
World Darts Championship Latest Trends
The PDC World Championships have been running since 1994, but in that time, there have only been 13 different winners. Phil Taylor dominated for a lot of it, winning 14 titles, but what we can take away from this is that it’s not easy for players to win their first. Safe bets usually target multiple winners, such as van Gerwen, Littler, Humphries, and Anderson.
Only two players in the last 10 years have won the World Championships as a seed outside of the top four (Rob Cross, 20th seed, 2018 and Peter Wright, 7th seed, 2020). Nine of the last 10 have been ranked inside the top 10, and 65.6% of the total number of winners have been English.
Key Players to Watch
It feels like the standard amongst the players gets better every year, and while we have our Darts World Championship betting tips above, we’ve got a handful of alternatives to keep an eye out for this year.
Luke Littler
Luke Littler took the darting world by storm two years ago, making the final of the World Championship on debut aged just 16. He backed it up in 2025 by winning his first title and has gone from strength to strength this season. He goes into the tournament as a strong favourite and the man everyone is chasing.
Luke Humphries
Littler’s biggest rival is his namesake, Luke Humphries. At the time of writing, he’s the current world number one, but as we’re still a few weeks out, that might have changed, with Littler in hot pursuit. He’s not had the year he would have hoped for in 2025, but he’s still a quality player. Those not backing Littler will likely be on Humphries.
Michael van Gerwen
If you’d have said two years ago you could get 10/1 or Michael van Gerwen to win his fourth World Championship, we’d have snapped your hands off. However, the Green Machine is no longer the player he once was. Troubles away from the oche have plagued his form, so it’s likely a bet we’d avoid this year.
Josh Rock
There have been few better than Josh Rock this year. It’s taken him a while to get established on the main tour, and you forget he’s only 24 sometimes. However, 2025 has been kind, with the highlight being Northern Ireland's win of the World Cup of Darts alongside Darryl Gurney. He’s 14/1 to go all the way and is a decent outside each-way option.
World Darts Championship Prize Money
Darts is on the up, and the prize money at the 2026 World Championships is a great supporter of that. It’s now at a whopping £5 million, with the winner earning £1 million. It’s double from 2025, and it’s the first seven-figure payout in any darts event ever.
