The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a long-standing fixture of the European Tour and a celebration of links golf. Played annually at St Andrews, the tournament is staged on three courses: the Old Course, the Championship Course, and the classic Kingsbarns. In this article, we list the top betting sites for this event, as well as our top tips and predictions!

Tournament Structure for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship format is rather unique compared to other tournaments of its kind. As a European Tour professional competition, there is a professional and amateur element to it. In the Team Championship, a professional will be paired with one of the 168 amateurs in the field.

After three rounds, the field is reduced to 60 professionals and the 20 leading teams. Amateurs will receive a stroke allowance, which equates to two-thirds of their handicap. The team score will be the lower of the professional and his amateur’s partner net score at each hole.

One of the richest events in European Tour golf, the tournament carries a total prize fund of $4.8 million for the professional competition and $200,000 for the Team Championship – the organisers usually pay out in US dollars. The competition takes place in September on a rotation of three different links courses in Scotland.

The three-course rotation consists of The Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links, and Kingsbarns Golf Links. The event is influenced heavily by the United States’ PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
