BetGoodwin Quick Facts
- Outstanding horse racing coverage
- Free bets for horse racing
- Comprehensive coverage of other leading sports
- Limited payment methods
- Lack of depth for bonuses beyond horse racing
- Aesthetics are poor on betting site
BetGoodwin was launched by the independent bookmaker Goodwin Racing in 2021, bringing all of its expertise into the world of online betting. Its speciality in horse racing is evident from its stellar coverage of the sport, including a wide array of bonuses as well as impressive versatility to make it a solid all-rounder. How I Rated BetGoodwin
BetGoodwin is a relative newcomer to the online betting industry, but it’s clear that it has used its extensive experience from its traditional phone betting service in its website.
As someone who enjoys betting on horse racing, I was extremely impressed by its outstanding horse racing coverage, featuring an incredible array of markets, competitive odds, and unique £100 free bet bonuses. Having sampled a number of betting sites, I feel there are few operators that provide a more comprehensive experience for betting on horse racing.
Although the rest of the product is fine for betting on other sports like football, but you will find a better experience elsewhere as it lacks detail, especially for bonuses. I do feel there are other areas of improvement regarding the quality of the overall betting experience both on the desktop platform and the mobile app.
- Promotes responsible gambling
- Licensed in the UK through Gambling Commission
- Latest encryption software
- Two-way verification
BetGoodwin provides a safe and trusted platform for customers to bet online, offering the latest encryption software to protect personal and financial details. It also provides two-way verification to ensure that only you can access your account online on its desktop and mobile apps, including a PIN code and face ID.
With over 25 years’ betting experience, BetGoodwin established itself as a reliable operator and is licensed in the United Kingdom through the UK Gambling Commission.
It promotes responsible gambling through GAMSTOP and BeGambleAware, as well as through various tools such as deposit limits, time-outs, and self-exclusions, along with the ability to block gambling payments made from your bank to their platform.
A look at Trustpilot shows that there have been no issues regarding security breaches online. As a new user, I found the security protocols to be solid, while customer support agents were fast to answer any questions I had.
- Simple sign-up
- Two-step process
- Quick and efficient
I found the registration process with the bookie straightforward and easy to complete.
It requires only two steps where you have to fill out your personal information and create your account with a username and secure password.
No further details or steps were required, and there is no promo code required to unlock the welcome offer either.
To start the sign-up process, click the ‘Join’ button on the desktop site or app. After you do so, the below pop-up will appear.
The first step requires your personal details. You’ll need to fill them in in order to advance to the next stage.
You then have to fill out your email address before creating your username and password.
After agreeing to the terms and conditions, you’ll have completed the final part of the process!
There are no KYC requirements for BetGoodwin to complete your registration.
Welcome Offer 3/5
- Offer has to be claimed on first day
- Requires minimum £30 bet
- Only benefits losing wagers
The bookie has a decent welcome offer, but you will find better value elsewhere on the market. One of my main issues with this promotion is that it requires at least £30 in wagers spread across three £10 bets on the very day you sign up.
Moreover, the offer only benefits losing bets, and only grants you 50% of your initial stake back as a free bet.
With this in mind, I feel that BetGoodwin can greatly stand to improve the experience for new customers, especially when compared to their rivals on the market.
On a more positive note, no promo code is required to unlock the offer, making the process of obtaining and using the bonus straightforward.
Welcome Offer Key Terms & Conditions
Offer valid for new BetGoodwin customers aged 18 years and over. 50% of first day losses refunded as a free bet. Max free bet per customer £25. To activate your 50% back offer, simply deposit and have a minimum of three bets of £10 or more on separate events at odds of evens (2.0) or bigger on first day. Full terms and conditions apply. Bet responsibly. BeGambleAware.org.
Deposits & Withdrawals Options 3/5
- Debit card only deposits
- Limited withdrawal options
- Charges withdrawal fees for lack of activity
|£10||N/A||From 4 Hours Up to 5 Days||Minimum £3.00 for lack of financial activity|
|£10||N/A||From 4 Hours Up to 5 Days||Minimum £3.00 for lack of financial activity|
|£10||N/A||From 4 Hours Up to 5 Days||Minimum £3.00 for lack of financial activity|
You can easily transfer funds to your account by clicking the ‘Deposit’ button on the desktop site or app. Then, complete the simple steps outlined below.
Step 1: Confirm your address, proving that you’re a UK resident.
Step 2: Select your chosen debit card from Visa, Mastercard, or Maestro before entering your deposit amount.
Step 3: Tick the receipt box and click the yellow button to confirm your deposit.
I found the process to be simple given the relative lack of options. However, you’re limited to only using a debit card, which is disappointing given the range of alternative methods that are available on other betting sites, including e-wallets.
In better news, though, the minimum deposit of £10 is slightly higher than the rest of the industry, where you can be expected to deposit as little as £5, depending on whether you need to unlock the welcome bonus with a qualifying amount.
The welcome offer has no obligatory deposit bonus, but bear in mind you do need to bet at least £30 with three £10 wagers to participate.
You need to place your three bets on the first day of your registration with the bookie, and you can expect up to 50% of your losses returned as a free bet with maximum value of £25.
How To Place a Bet
Placing a bet with BetGoodwin is straightforward, and follows the same overall process for any online bookie. Simply enter the event page of the game or outright market you wish to bet on and select the odds, or multiple odds for a bet builder.
Your bet slip on the site will appear on the right side of the desktop screen and at the bottom of your mobile screen. After that, enter your wager amount and confirm your wager.
In a nutshell, I found placing a bet with BetGoodwin to be very swift and efficient.
The withdrawal process follows the same pattern as depositing funds. You simply need to click the ‘My account’ button at the top right of the screen before selecting ‘Withdraw’.
You’ll then have to select your withdrawal amount and payment method, although this part is simple because you can only use a debit card. Once you’ve confirmed your amount, confirm your withdrawal from BetGoodwin.
However, the negatives outweigh the positives here. I find it disappointing that there are so few payment methods available, and the processing time to secure your withdrawal can take up to five days, depending on your chosen bank.
I also don’t like the fact that withdrawal fees are charged for a lack of betting activity or funds that amount to less than 50% of the amount you deposited. On top of this, the charge is at least £3.00 and can be up to 5% of your requested withdrawal amount.
It’s not good enough compared to BetGoodwin’s rivals, who don’t apply charges for withdrawals.
Sportsbook Promotions 2/5
- Outstanding horse racing promotions
- Lucrative free bets worth up to £100
- Limited offers for other sports
- No VIP programme
- No rewards programme
If you love horse racing, BetGoodwin offers the perfect promotions for your betting needs. There are four outstanding offers for betting on a wide range of races, with up to £100 in free bets if your horse loses on the track.
You can claim these offers for beaten by a nose, beaten by under a length in a chase, falling at the last, and when second after losing to a horse 50/1 or more.
These promotions all follow the same principle, refunding your wager up to £100 should your horse lose by those four results.
You must place a minimum bet of £10 on the winner or each-way to qualify for all four of these promotions. Lucky 15 and other multiple wagers are not eligible in the offer.
Other than these, BetGoodwin also offers a Best Odds Guaranteed promotion for all UK and Irish races involving horses or greyhounds. If the starting price has greater odds than the price you used after 10am on the day of the race, the bookie ensures that it will pay out at the best prices available so you won’t miss out on the optimum value of your wager.
Unfortunately, there are no other betting promotions available at this time on other sports, including football.
This is very disappointing. The majority of betting sites provide a wide range of betting offers for all sports, not only horse racing. There should at least be enhanced odds or profit boosts available for betting on football for a range of markets such as the result and goalscorer among others, which is a staple of almost all operators. If you want to bet on football and other sports outside of horse racing, look elsewhere to find stronger value.
At the time of writing, the bookie does not provide a VIP programme at the time of writing. When I asked customer support about this, they were hopeful there would be one available in the future, directing me to their promotions page as an alternative for the time being.
There is currently no loyalty programme available for BetGoodwin. Again, this is disappointing as many of its rivals have such schemes in place to reward loyal customers. I was again directed to the promotions page upon enquiring further.
Pre-Match Betting 3/5
- 30 sports available
- Hundreds of pre-match markets
- Odds format can be altered
- Statistics on hand to aid betting
BetGoodwin provides coverage for 30 sports on both desktop and mobile, with its main focus being on horse racing and football. Other sports include American football, basketball, cycling, darts, and even alpine skiing.
Football is covered in great depth, featuring over 100 betting markets for Premier League wagering. You can bet on match results, over/unders, handicaps, props and outrights. One aspect that could be improved is its offering for specials such as manager and player transfers markets.
Horse racing is also extensive with markets available on races around the world. The more notable the race, the more betting options will be available. For a standard race, there will be options for betting on the winner, each-way, top two or three finish, and betting without the favourite. For leading races, you can expect a lot more detail, with usually over 20 markets provided.
Both football and horse racing have excellent coverage of outright markets, especially for football where there are over 50 options available.
The other sports available do not have such extensive coverage, but there are still a good range of bets available. For outright betting, the American football section caught my eye with over 30 betting options available on the NFL season.
BetGoodwin provides competitive value across the board on the prices of its odds. Comparing against one of the leading betting sites bet365 for a slate of upcoming Premier League games, there were minimal differences between the two operators for a wide selection of games that I reviewed. This was the same across the board for all sports.
In addition, while there is a minimum stake of £0.10, there is no maximum value.
Coverage of esports is limited to only a few markets and leagues such as League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and VALORANT.
At this time, the markets are limited to match winner and map winner which is underwhelming compared to other betting sites that cover esports more extensively. However, the odds are competitive in the few markets that are available, though you won’t be able to livestream any matches you bet on.
BetGoodwin offers specials betting on politics, focusing on markets from the UK and the US. There are a couple of outright markets available for betting on the UK such as the next prime minister and most seats in parliament. The US market is straightforward, taking outright bets on the next president for a select number of candidates.
Cash-Out and Bet Builders
Cash-outs are widely available on a variety of sports. Both full and partial cash outs are possible, with the latter allowing you to take a portion of your winnings out while leaving the rest pending on the full outcome. This is a solid offering overall, although it would be better if cash-outs were universally available on all sports offered by the bookie.
Bet builders are known as ‘Create A Bet’ on BetGoodwin and are only available on football matches, where you combine multiple markets from the same game into one large bet. However, it could stand to improve its offerings on this feature to include other major sports, however.
In-Play Betting 3/5
- Solid range of sports and markets
- Statistics readily available
- Infographic to support betting
There is a good variety of options for live betting, including football, tennis, cricket, baseball, American football, basketball, and many more.
For major sports such as football, there are a wide range of markets, almost as many as you would have pre-game.
The odds are just as valuable as you would find before the beginning of the event, although bear in mind they do change to reflect the tone of the game as it unfolds in real time. There are also no differences for the minimum and maximum stakes involved.
At the time of writing, livestreaming is only available for horse racing. I would like to see this improved to match other betting sites where streaming for football and others is readily available.
Customer Support 4/5
- 24/7 live chat
- Email support
- No telephone
I found the customer services team extremely helpful with my range of queries.
I asked about deposits, withdrawals, promotions, and features such as the bet builder. My queries were answered promptly and politely by the customer service agents, who were also informative about the issues at hand.
The only issue is the lack of phone support, which is not available for all customers.
|Live Chat (on mobile)||Toolbar on the right side of the betting site and bottom of mobile app||5 minutes||24/7|
|Email address||One day||24/7|
|Social Media/Other||@BetGoodwin||30 minutes||24/7|
|Quality of Customer Service||The only language available for customer service is English. The agents were helpful and informative. There is also an FAQ section to use for basic queries.|
Design and Usability 3/5
- Layout geared for horse racing
- Slow functionality on betting site
- Lacks clean aesthetics
It’s clear from the home page that BetGoodwin is geared towards horse racing, with the latest markets and odds for the sport being the first thing you see when entering the site. It does make it a tad cluttered and tough to find other options.
Navigation across different pages can be slow and a bit laggy, especially if you’re using livestreaming, while the overall design could use some freshening up to improve the platform’s appearance.
To sum up, BetGoodwin’s site is decent and allows you to find the key areas to place wagers, register and deposit your funds. However, there are areas for improvement to fine-tune the overall look of the betting site to make all processes that bit smoother.
Mobile and App 3/5
- Available for both iOS and Android
- Good functionality on iOS
- Features run smoothly enough
I found BetGoodwin’s app to be a good product when I tried it out on my iPhone 12, allowing me to use all of the functions available on its desktop counterpart, including livestreaming and cash-outs.
The aesthetics are the same as the betting site on desktop, and overall, the app functions well enough, although there are still a couple of issues with the layout being overly focused on horse racing.
However, when it comes to design and usability, things are a bit rough around the edges when compared to others on the market.
You may have trouble finding the ‘Contact Us’ page, for instance. They made need to look into these issues on iOS as there have been a few complaints regarding its quality. The same is apparent on Android too.
BetGoodwin only has a sportsbook as this moment in time, although that could change in the future as the company seeks to expand.
TPP Final Say and Overall Rating 3.4/5
I’ve given BetGoodwin a score of 3.4 in my review. I feel that there is a lot there for fans of horse racing betting, especially with its range of outstanding promotions and livestreaming. You’ll struggle to find a better product in this regard.
But elsewhere, it’s lacking in regards to quality with its range of bets and promotions. The product outside of horse racing needs refining and bringing up to the standard of other betting sites.
