Key Teams to Watch
We’re stacked with talent in the English domestic game, and T20 blast results can be hard to predict. So, we’ve highlighted some of the bigger teams for this season and given our 2p on why they’re ranked as one of the best.
Somerset are always there or thereabouts. They won in 2023, setting a record for the most wins (15), and were runners-up in 2024. Their explosive batting lineup is packed with big hitters who have featured in the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League, complemented perfectly by a wily bowling attack. Combine that with a relatively small ground at Taunton, and you’ve an absolute box-office, must-watch, T20 Blast outfit.
The Manchester City of the cricket world. Surrey has the superstar power that most counties can only dream of. They get huge crowds at the Oval and are supplemented by regular Test and ODI games to boost their income. As a result, they splash the cash for the limited-overs team and include the likes of Sam and Tom Curran, Jason Roy and Will Jacks who dominate the cricket betting news. But, rather shockingly, have only won it once, way back in the inaugural 2003 tournament.
Hampshire have won the tournament a record-equalling three times. They top most of the T20 Blast match odds, and rightly so, given how dominant they’ve been. James Vince has been a huge reason why they’ve been so good over the last decade, but don’t overlook their home advantage at the Ageas Bowl. It’s notoriously hard to defend scores at, and they stack their team with spinners and prime death bowlers. They might not have the curb appeal of the Surreys and Somersets of the world, but dismiss the Hawks at your peril.
T20 Blast Finals Day
The 18 teams are split into two groups based on geographical location: North and South. With nine teams in each group, the teams all play each other home and away before the top four from both groups advance to the quarterfinals. The four winners from the T20 Blast quarter finals then make it to finals day proper.
Finals day takes place at Edgbaston and will include both semi-finals and the final in what is one of the best days of cricket in the country. The 2025 T20 Blast finals day takes place on Saturday, 13th September. The first game usually kicks off around 10am, before the final, which starts at 6pm.
