As an all-round bookie, Unibet is one of the best. It ticks a lot of boxes, including 35+ sports to bet on, speedy KYC verification, instant withdrawals, 400% welcome bonus, £250,000 max payout limits and 24/7 customer support. One of the biggest compliments we can pay it is that there’s very little not to like from an incredibly polished brand.
For horse racing punters, few can compete. Not only are there six exciting player promos, such as best odds guaranteed, money-back specials, Same Race Multi feature, and extra places paid, but they also offer some of the best odds in the industry. All sports get a lot of love from us at TPP, but if we had to pick one highlight, horse racing betting would be it.
- Fully live, active and in-date UK Gambling Commission License (#45322)
- Massive “safer gambling” HUB page with tools to prevent problems or get help if needed
- A part of 12 different licenses and authorities linked to the promotion of security or safer gambling
- None. Above and beyond for security.
We want to kick off our Unibet sportsbook review by having a look at security and licensing. What’s apparent straight from the off is that they go above and beyond, which is something we’d expect from a brand that’s as highly thought of as they are.
To give you an idea of what “above and beyond” means in our book, here’s a look at some of the tools, governing bodies, licenses and programs they are linked with:
-
UK Gambling Commission (License No. 45322)
-
European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA)
-
Protect Integrity
-
eCOGRA
-
Carbon Footprint Standard
-

SSL Encryption (SHA-256)
As you can see, quite a list. But this can be all fur coat and no knickers. So, we did a little digging.
Firstly, the SSL encryption (SHA-256) is entirely valid and up to date. Good start. All the registration numbers and licenses for the UK Gambling Commission, eCOGRA, and EGBA are live and active. Getting better.
Next, safer gambling measures. A huge HUB page full of how to keep gambling fun, how to stay in control, what to do if you need help and most importantly, how to limit/restrict your account. This includes reality checks (basically a timeout), deposit limits, self-exclusion and even an easy way to block or close your account. While reviewing other bookies we find that some make that last part harder than it should, so kudos to Unibet support here.
- Account set up and created in under three minutes
- Goes straight into claiming the welcome offer once complete (no promo code needed)
- No KYC verification if you’re already known to the UKGC
- A double round of spam Captcha can be annoying
You can create an account using the Unibet mobile app or their online betting site. The process takes less than three minutes from start to finish, and it leads you straight into claiming the welcome bonus, which we’ll guide you through in the next section.
For our Unibet review, we signed up with their brilliant app, and here’s how it works:
These are three of the most straightforward steps you’ll find for creating a new account. We’ve opened hundreds of accounts over the years, and there aren’t many as streamlined as Unibet.
What’s great is that there’s no annoying email or SMS verification. You enter your info, and away you go. The only niggle, if you can call it that, is the two-image Captcha spam filter. You know the one, click the square with the camel in, now choose the one with the bear holding an umbrella… Annoying, but we get that it’s crucial for security, so they get a pass here.
Oh, also, you can set up Face ID if you’re using the app. We know this works with iOS and assume it also works with Android, making the login process a breeze for next time.
KYC Account Verification
Know Your Customer (KYC) is now a mandatory part of creating betting accounts in the UK. It may seem a little frustrating having to verify who you are, but trust us, it makes for a safer gaming environment, so we’re all for it.
Before we jump in, we wanted to note that our account didn’t flag for any KYC verification. Once your name, address and phone number are known to the UK Gambling Commission, you can register accounts without having to verify. So, for us, once the account was set up, we were ready to rock.
If you do need to verify, you will need:
Bank statement, utility bill, residence certificate or any official government or local authority correspondence.
Passport, driver's license, valid government-issued ID.
Bank statements, saved funds, other income (dividends, rental income, etc.), proof of available assets.
To see if you need to verify, log in, click the menu button in the top right, click Account, then scroll to Verify Account. You can view your identity, payments, and personal information, and you must verify all three. It will inform you if you’re good to proceed or if you need to upload some documents.
The process takes less than 24 hours to complete, so the faster you get them in, the quicker you can start betting.

Unibet Sign-Up Offer
- Large £30 sports package
- Ideal if you place a bet builder or accumulator bets
- Free bets and bonuses are paid regardless of whether your initial bet wins or loses
- Casino bonus comes with massive 50x wagering
- Sports can’t be used with singles, doubles or trebles bets
The Unibet welcome offer for sports is worth up to £30. It’s easy enough to claim: bet £10 on any qualifying sports market (excluding racing, greyhounds and trotting) at odds of evens or greater, and you get £30 worth of free bets and bonuses.
Once your qualifying bet is settled, Unibet will give you £30 in free bets. These are separated into 2 x £10 to use on bet builder (minimum four selections), and 1 x £10 to use on accumulators (also minimum four selections).
Unfortunately, the free bets are not valid for racing, greyhounds, trotting or virtual sports markets. What’s more, they must be used within seven days, otherwise you will lose them.
Oh, you can only claim this with a VISA debit card, which doesn’t include Apple Pay. Something we initially found out the hard way. Annoying!
The details make or break this Unibet Sign Up offer
Jonathan Askew: I must be honest with you here. While 3x on your money sounds great, there are better sports welcome offers available than this one at Unibet. I’d be a lot more tempted to head over to bet365, where you get a £30 free bet for a tenner. It’s the same money overall, but there are fewer restrictions.
Unibet Other Promotions
- 25+ promotions for existing players across sports, casino, poker and bingo
- Brilliant for horse racing, with five promotions dedicated to that
- Great mix of free bets, odds boosts, acca boosts, early payouts and stake returned
- The 50x wagering for casino promotions is too high
- Relatively strict when it comes to sports and markets, and restricted casino games for bonus clearing
An absolute standout in our Unibet review, and some redemption for the less-than-impressive sports welcome offer, is the sheer volume of “other” promotions that are live as we are testing.
To highlight the scale, there are over 25 options spread across the sports, casino, poker, and bingo sections, with the majority accessible to existing customers. Honestly, if it’s promotions you’re after, Unibet are right up there.
Let’s look at some of the highlights:
We highlighted that the welcome offer doesn’t include horse racing, but there is a dedicated racing promo if that’s what you want to bet on. Your original bet needs to be a little higher for this at £20, and you get 2 x £10 free bets for horse racing. Minimum odds for all these bets are 2/5, which is super low and makes this great value. Aside from that, it’s as straight up as you’ll see. We’d even argue it’s better than the welcome offer, but that’s only if you’re specifically betting on horse racing.
You can, of course, just side-step all the sports and head straight for the bright lights of Las Vegas… or your living room, whichever is easiest. Again, this is another dedicated Unibet welcome offer, but only for casino players. What we like about this is that you deposit £10 and get a £40 bonus. You don’t need to wager anything, and the bonus will instantly be applied. There’s still the nagging 50x wagering on the bonus, which we don’t love, to be honest, but you’ve got 30 days to clear it and you’ve a 100% stake match on slots, which we do like.
There are lots of reasons why we love Unibet, but the sheer volume of horse racing promotions is right up there. They include money-back specials, Same Race Multi (think bet builder, but for racing), extra places paid, daily odds boosts (where you choose), acca boosts, best odds guaranteed and boosted odds (for selected horses). We told you there was a lot. What’s great about them is that they each offer genuine value. The odds boost, for example, can see bumps upwards of 20%, which is massive and makes them industry-best prices almost every time.
The Second Serve offer is essentially a money-back guarantee if your Unibet tennis acca misses by one selection. When this happens, they will refund 50% of your stake up to £10. It’s acca insurance for tennis, and while it’s not the largest, it’s better than nothing if these are your go-to bets.
For your bet builders, you can grab boosted odds on bets that have three or more picks and odds of 4/1 or greater. With this, you get one boost per day, and the amount of boost will vary based on the number of picks and the initial odds. We did a little bit of digging to get a general average, and it’s around 10%, which is sweet, actually. bet365 runs a similar promotion, with their range being 5% to 10%, to provide some context.
Unibet VIP and Loyalty Programme
One of the few negatives that we have with Unibet is the lack of a VIP programme. Some sort of bonus scheme or rewards package would have been the icing on the cake for what is otherwise one of the highest-scoring sections in our Unibet review.
All might not be lost…
It's not uncommon for bookies to claim there's no VIP programme, but in 15+ years of working in the sports betting industry, I've yet to encounter a brand that doesn't reward its high rollers in some way, shape or form. If you feel that you're depositing and wagering more than the Average Joe, I'd highly recommend that you reach out to customer support via live chat to see if they will hook you up. It's possible they don't want to promote this feature for whatever reason, and the worst they can say is no.

Unibet is a classic example of modern UK bookmakers vastly streamlining their banking options to comply with increasingly stringent gambling regulations. What on earth do we mean by that? Well, if you head into their help section and look up deposit methods, they list debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller and Trustly. The reality is that, being UK-based, you won’t get access to all of these.
In fact, the only deposit options are debit card or bank transfer. If you’re on the Unibet mobile app, you can use Apple Pay and Google Pay as well. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, seeing as though we all have access to one or both, but it can seem a little misleading for UK punters.
Deposits start from just a fiver, which is great. Max deposits are capped at £10,000, but you can contact customer support for larger payments if you’re surname ends in Bezos. Our payments were processed instantly, and no KYC verification was needed, as this was automatically completed when we signed up.
Withdrawals must go back to the initial deposit method before you can change. So, if you’ve deposited £100 with Visa and want to withdraw £200 to a Mastercard, you need first to withdraw £100 to the original Visa to cover that balance before you can add a new payment method.
Unibet's minimum withdrawal starts from £5, and with no upper limit, this is a nice touch. Processing times range from one to three days for Visa/Mastercard/Apple Pay/Google Pay, and are instant for bank transfers (although the website states it can take up to three days).
How to Deposit Funds to Unibet – My Experience
How to Withdraw Funds from Unibet – My Experience
Effortless money transactions with Unibet
Jonathan Askew: This is about as easy as it gets to move money into and out of a betting account. A little hack I found is that you can withdraw to your bank account and use the instant bank transfer option if you’ve deposited with Apple Pay, as long as the bank account is the same one linked to Apple Pay. So, you get the convenience of double-tap deposit and the speed of an instant withdrawal. It’s not often you see this, so I must give kudos as part of my Unibet reviews when it's due.
- 500+ markets for major football leagues and tournaments
- Free livestreaming for horse racing and access to The Racing Post form guide
- High max win limits of up to £250,000 for football and £100,000 for horse racing
- No livestreaming for eSports
- Lack of clarity over max win limits for novelty and specials markets
We now shift our focus to the meat of our Unibet review and look at the sports coverage on offer. Once the initial sign-up, welcome offers and deposits have been made, this will be where you spend most of your time. And if you’re a TL;DR kind of person, it’s a cracker.
With 35+ sports in total, it’s one of the bigger platforms that we’ve tested. It’s going to tick a lot of boxes for a lot of punters.
The heavy lifting is done with football, where there are literally thousands of markets to bet on. On top of that, you’ve got tennis, American football, darts, and, interestingly, a massive eSports section that we will dive into below.
Minimum bets start from £0.10, which is about the industry standard. If you’re on a budget, then both Ladbrokes and Coral allow you to bet from just £0.01. You do need to be a little careful in terms of the upper limits, as they won’t cap the amount you can bet, but they will cap the amount you can win. For example, football is capped at £250,000 in daily winnings and horse racing at £100,000. It’s up to you to note this for the sport that you’re betting on.
It won't come as much of a surprise to hear that football is one of, if not the, biggest sports at Unibet. Markets are split into three sections: matches, outrights and all football. They’re self-explanatory, but from a navigation perspective, they work well. With literally thousands of markets across hundreds of games, there’s a lot going on, but we specifically liked the depth of markets for top-tier games, which then linked to bet builders where you can create your own or use popular bet builders created by the team at Unibet. The Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga are where most of the action is. To highlight the depth, you’ve got leagues from Ethiopia, Gambia, Peru and Uruguay, with games getting 50+ markets, so it’s not just token inclusions here.
Horse racing has a dedicated section, and it’s a big one at that. The bulk of the races come from the UK and Ireland, but its international coverage is not to be overlooked, with races from France, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Australia, to name a few. All UK and Ireland races are streamed live if you’ve bet on the race, and there are tons of promotions (mentioned above) such as Best Odds Guaranteed and price boosts. Minimum bets start from £0.10, and you’re capped at £100,000 winnings per bet. The racecards are superb, with links to The Racing Post form guide, and it’s one of the few areas where we still like to use desktop over mobile as there’s so much content to take in. Overall, easily one of the best horse racing sections we’ve tested and one of the strongest sections in our Unibet UK review.
Tennis is yet another huge section for Unibet and is one of the few that can rival football in terms of the number of matches. Market coverage is lower than the footie, which is common, and games generally average around 30 options for most majors, ATP and WTA matches. Minimum bets start from £0.10, and payouts are capped at £150,000 for majors and £75,000 for regular tour events. Steaming is available within the in-play betting section, but we must add that the market coverage in-play is one of the few weak points. You’ve got around 10 to 20 options at any time, but this is way down compared to bet365, who have 50+ for the same games we compared.
Esports is a dark horse for one of the best sections of our Unibet review. First thing that stood out was the depth, with coverage from favourites such as CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, StarCraft 2 and Valorant (one of the few bookies in the world to offer this). Market coverage is 200+ for some games, and you’ve access to stats with each, such as expected line-ups, recent encounters and series history, which is great for games like CS2, given how often these tournaments take place. The only niggle is that there’s little in the way of livestreaming, which would boost its score to an almost perfect mark.
Without intentionally repeating ourselves, we must state that the novelty betting section is another solid inclusion by Unibet. Markets include things like the next James Bond actor, the BBC Sports Personality of the year and the next winner of Love Island. What we will say is that it’s very TV weighted, which is common, but they do have some random international markets, which don’t get much more bizarre than betting on the weather in Sweden, but here we are. Betting limits start from £0.10, but max winnings will depend on the market. They’ll be lower than the likes of football or tennis, and it’s not always easy to find out how much they are. We’d highly recommend contacting customer support before betting on these if you’re betting big and worried about a cap.
- Low average overround of 6.77% for football betting
- Tennis overround of 5.13% tops BetVictor
- Consistent numbers spread across football, tennis and horse racing
- High overround for niche sports, such as darts and motorsports
It’s easy to say that Unibet have excellent odds, but given this is a black and white result based on numbers and data, let’s run a little comparison to see how they fare. We’ve compared them to bet365 and BetVictor across three markets from three sports. It’s about as tough as it gets at the top of the pile for online bookies, so it should give us a good indication of their strengths and weaknesses.
| Market | Unibet Overround | bet365 Overround | BetVictor Overround |
|---|---|---|---|
| Football – England v Senegal (England to win) | 106.77% | 106.64% | 109.35% |
| Tennis – Rinky Hijikata v Daniel Evans | 105.13% | 104.76% | 105.22% |
| Darts – Sweden v Lithuania | 108.33% | 105.28% | 106.35% |
OK, so they stack up well. For football betting with bet365, they are right there and smash BetVictor out of the park. Tennis is very close across the three, and it’s only when you get to the darts that they start to drop off.
From this, we can conclude that for major sports such as football, tennis or horse racing, Unibet is going to be highly competitive. Anyone who can go toe-to-toe with bet365 is to be commended. However, for the more niche sports with less volume, you may be better off finding alternatives to get the best possible prices. There’s not a lot in it, but from our Unibet sportsbook review, we’ve seen just enough to suggest that the value lies with the bigger names.
Unibet strikes a nice balance between offering genuinely useful features and keeping it clean enough that you can get on with the betting side of things. Below, we’ve covered some of what we consider to be the prominent features and a little more on how they work.
Unibet Live Betting
- Markets suspended for a shorter amount of time compared to bet365, BetVictor and Coral
- Bet builder feature accessible in-play
- Livestreams have the option to switch between in-game and full-screen mode
- Outside of football, market coverage is average at best
It’s good to see that Unibet have kept the live betting and main sportsbook separate, as it’s a big part of what makes them one of the best in the industry. You’ve access to dozens of sports, such as football, basketball, tennis, and eSports.
Market coverage is good, not great, with football maxing out at 50 in-play markets and other sports dropping based on popularity. We really liked the link with livestreaming, though, and you’ve the option of viewing in-screen (which includes a view of the betting markets) or full-screen for a more immersive experience.
A huge plus point is the lack of time that markets are suspended for. It will depend on what’s happening in the game, but if we return to football, when a goal is scored, it’s suspended for less than 10 seconds. We compared this to bet365, BetVictor, Betfred and Coral, and it was up to five seconds shorter against each.
Unibet Cash Out
- A wide range of sports and markets are accessible for cashing out
- Option to see pending cash-outs from markets or bet slips
- Easy to use and nice, good use of colours to make it stand out
- No partial or auto-cash out options
We had to do a little digging for cash out to see what sports and markets it was available on. Live chat wasn’t an awful lot of help here, as they just stated that it “depends on the market”, so we can’t give you a definitive answer as to what exactly you can cash out.
However, the bet slip will tell you once you add the bet to it with a green “cash out” marker. A little annoying, yes, but it’s clear enough, and to be honest, most sports and markets are on there.
There are two ways to access it, which we like. First is via your “My Open Bets” tab, or you can go back to the market and see the cash out option under your bet (as pictured), which is a nice feature. There’s no option to partial cash out, so it’s all or nothing, but the whole process is smooth and easy to use even for beginner punters.
Unibet Bet Builder
- Daily 10% bet builder boost on all markets, sports and combinations
- Very easy to use on mobile and desktop
- Option to choose between a DIY and popular bets
- Can be limited on the number of selections if there is a conflict with markets
We were impressed with the option to flip between a standard bet builder, where you add your picks and popular bet builders, which we assume have been made by other users and added, but they might be random ones created by Unibet.
But the best thing about using Unibet over the competition is that you get a daily 10% bet builder boost. Now, if you like to have a dabble at the long shots, then 10% is going to be a substantial addition to your bottom line, and this can be used across all sports, markets and combinations. Kudos, Unibet.
- Live chat responds within four minutes
- The team is highly skilled and helpful in creating fixes for problems
- Help centre is packed with information for general snags
- No email or phone number
- Lack of social media outlets for support
We’ve used the customer support team throughout our Unibet review, and we must admit – they’ve been excellent. There’s no use of bots with the live chat, the help section is in-depth enough that it covers most snags, and there’s always someone on hand 24/7, which is a bonus. The only negative is that live chat is the single contact method, and we’d like to see email or phone added in case it was ever down, or you just rather use those methods.

- Great design and layout, which aids browsing speed
- Easy to create an account and claim the welcome offer
- Face ID login
- Would rather a drop-down menu for sports rather than a scroll bar, but this is personal preference
Hands down, one of the best betting apps going. Everything, from creating an account to placing a bet, is smooth, seamless, and exactly how it should be. You can access the native app on Android and iOS, with stellar reviews for both platforms, may we add, and quickly move between sports and markets. If you want to jump between horse racing and casino, you can, but the poker room has a separate app, so you’ll need that instead.

They probably don’t have every sport in the world but honestly in terms of anything 99.999999% of people would be interested in, including casino/bingo/poker stuff, it is here. Really great live as well, awesome app – might be even better on your phone.
Thank you for your feedback!
