Established in 2018, BetUK is LeoVegas Gaming’s first brand with sports betting as its main focus. Since its inception, the bookmaker has signed horse racing trainer Neil Mulholland and media personality Vogue Williams to ambassadorial roles, with the pair providing horse racing insight for customers. This depicts some of the bookmaker’s early commercial success, but how does it stack up against the UK’s premier bookies? Let’s find out in this in-depth review.

Registration Process
4 / 5

  • One long step
  • Basic information required
  • Simple verification process

When creating an account with BetUK, new customers are required to complete a quick and easy one-step process in which only basic information is required.

Register - BetUK

To begin, you’ll need to give your email address before creating a BetUK username and password.

Register2 - BetUK

Once the initial phase is complete, scroll down to fill out ‘Your Details’. Here, you need to confirm your gender, provide your name, and give your date of birth.

Register3 - BetUK

The final phase of the registration process is ‘Contact Information’. All you need to provide here is your address and mobile phone number.

The complete the process, confirm your marketing preferences before ticking the terms and conditions box. A click of the ‘Create Account’ button will begin your BetUK journey. However, before you can get fully underway, you must verify your account. This is done by the bookmaker sending a four-digit verification code to your email address.

Deposits & Withdrawal Options
3 / 5

  • Three payment options
  • Easy depositing process
  • No fees or cryptos

BetUK allows punters to deposit via three different payment methods: Instant Bank Transfer, Debit Card (VISA/Mastercard) and PayPal.

Deposit - BetUK

The depositing processes for each method are markedly simple. With Bank Transfer, you need to select your bank from the drop-down list before confirming how much you want to deposit. Debit card users must fill out the basic financial formalities before adding funds to their account, while PayPal depositors merely need to confirm the amount they want to deposit.

Deposit2 - BetUK

With Bank Transfer and debit cards, the minimum deposit is £10. This is £5 with PayPal. Debit cards and PayPal both boast £35,000 maximum deposits, while Bank Transfer deposits are ‘limited’ to £10,000.

Regarding withdrawals, customers should expect to see their funds arrive between 1-5 days with debit cards and within 24 hours with PayPal. The minimum you can withdraw is £10.

There are no fees associated with any of BetUK’s financial processes, while the bookmaker doesn’t allow customers to deposit with cryptocurrencies.

Welcome Offer
3.5 / 5

  • Multiple welcome offers
  • Sports & casino offers

Welcome - BetUK

There are several welcome offers for new customers.

BetUK’s sports welcome offer gifts punters £30 in free bets (credited as 3x £10 bets) following their first £10 stake. All qualifying bets must be placed at odds greater than ½. There are a few restrictions regarding how the free bets can be deployed. For example, they must be used on bets with four-plus selections and each selection must boast odds of 1.3 or greater.

Thus, you’re somewhat limited to what you can use your free bets on. Plus, this offer is only available on mobile.

Moreover, BetUK also gives new customers the chance to unlock up to £100 and earn 10 wager free spins on a selected casino game after signing-up. Once you’ve wagered 35x your first deposit (up to £50) on any casino game, you’ll be rewarded.

The amount you deposit depends on your cash reward, and this is applicable for your first two cash deposits. Punters will earn 10 wager free spins on BetUK’s ‘Book of Dead’ game.

Sportsbook Promotions
2 / 5

  • Limited number of current promotions
  • BetUK ACCA Club – boosts
  • No VIP programme

Sportsbook - BetUK

There are few sportsbook promotions for BetUK to take advantage of. The bookmaker provides several daily price boosts (although there were none at the time of writing) on various events and markets across its sportsbook.

BetUK’s ACCA Club is a boosted accumulator promotion. With this offer, customers can have five accumulators a week (as long as the selections within the bet are all greater than 1/5 odds) boosted. The more the selections, the greater the boost. For example, treble bets are boosted by 10%, while 7+ fold accas garner 50% boosts. Customers are limited to a £1000 maximum winning per boost.

Unfortunately, this is the only current sports offer of any note.

VIP/Loyalty Programme

BetUK currently doesn’t boast a VIP or Loyalty programme of any kind for its customers.

Pre-Match Offer
3.5 / 5

  • Broad sportsbook
  • Great odds
  • Novelty and esports bettors satisfied

30 sports make up BetUK’s sportsbook and punters can access a plethora of events, leagues, tournaments, markets and sub-markets within each sport offered. Niche and the most popular sports are covered by the bookmaker.

Their football coverage is broad. For most fixtures, around 400 markets can be utilised. Despite the lack of promotions, there’s nonetheless a multitude of options for football bettors to enjoy with this bookmaker.

PreMatch - BetUK

Punters can take advantage of daily boosted odds and BetUK’s ‘Packaged Bets’ when betting on football. Here, the bookie supplies ready-made bets for customers who might be unsure what market to target on a selected match.

While their football coverage is impressive, the bookie’s odds are the most crucial element here, and to measure the quality of BetUK’s margins we used the odds overround.

The overround is a calculation that combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should come to 100% – however, this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.

We picked three games at random from the Champions League, EFL Championship and EFL League 1 that returned margins of 103.48%, 105.24% and 105.8% respectively. Thus, BetUK’s margins are both consistent and fair.

Punters can display their odds as fractions, decimals or American, while the minimum stake is 10p and the maximum stake is bet dependent.

Esports

BetUK’s esports coverage is impressive. All the popular games and events are covered, with a myriad of global esports tournaments available to bet on. Esports fans can bet on Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Starcraft 2 and Rainbox 6 events with this bookmaker. However, there are a limited number of sub-markets to bet on.

Be sure to check out our esports betting tips if you want to improve your chances of winning at esports betting.

Other Specials

There is so much for the novelty bettor to enjoy with BetUK. There are TV and entertainment specials aplenty. For example, you can bet on UK shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Big Brother. BBC Sports Personality of the Year markets are also accessible, with next year’s Oscars covered, too.

If your niche is Swedish or Finnish TV, BetUK have got you covered!

PreMatch2 - BetUK

The bookmaker also offers some political markets for its customers. Although, these are limited to British and Swedish political events.

Cash Out & Bet Builder

You can take full control of your bets with BetUK’s Cash Out and Partial Cash Out features. The bookmaker also boasts a Bet Builder.

Live Offer
3 / 5

  • ‘Instant Betting’ markets
  • Basic live coverage
  • No live streaming

Live - BetUK

BetUK’s live markets are accessible by the ‘Live Right Now’ tab. At the time of writing, there were 61 live events available for customers to bet on.

Once you’ve accessed an in-play market, BetUK offers several ‘Instant Betting’ markets. They’re essentially bets that will be settled in the immediate future. So, for example, if a football match is at half-time, BetUK will offer markets that will be decided between the start of the second half and 60 minutes. These could include the number of goals, shots, corners, etc, in that time frame.

Moreover, punters can utilise the bookie’s bet builder in-play, while their live experience is aided by the presence of updated statistics and a match tracker. Unfortunately, there is no live streaming service.

Security
4 / 5

  • UKPC
  • Strong emphasis upon responsible gambling
  • Account limits & self-assessment test

Security - BetUK

BetUK is operated by LeoVegas Gaming PLC who, in turn, is regulated and licensed by the UKGC (UK Gambling Commission).

As bookmakers attempt to raise awareness on Safer Gambling Week, BetUK has a dedicated page for customers to read that emphasises responsible gambling. The bookmaker offers advice and support, provides tips and hints for identifying a problem gambler, and supplies external links if customers require additional help or support. Advice is also provided on how to keep your gambling under control.

Account limits are in place to help prevent your betting with BetUK from spiralling. You can set Deposit Limits, Loss Limits, Session Limits and Wagering Limits. Reality Checks, Time-Outs and Self-Exclusion can also be deployed if necessary. BetUK also has a self-assessment test for punters to take.

Security2 - BetUK

For those concerned with what the bookmaker is doing with your data, a comprehensive Privacy Policy is accessible to view on the website.

Service & Customer Support
2.5 / 5

  • Two avenues of communication – email & live chat
  • Helpful FAQs section
  • Inefficient live chat service

You can contact BetUK via email (support@betuk.com) and Live Chat. However, the bookmaker presents a comprehensive FAQs section that covers a multitude of potential queries. The section offers support regarding deposits and withdrawals, your account and verification among several other subjects of enquiry.

Nevertheless, if you require additional support even after accessing the FAQs, we recommend you open up a Live Chat session. This can be done by accessing the ‘Help’ tab on the left-hand side of the page. There, a small ‘Chat’ icon will manifest in the bottom right-hand corner. A click of that will begin a session with one of BetUK’s support agents.

Service - BetUK

Before you get started, you’re required to fill out the above form. Providing our name and email are optional, but you must give a brief message. This is a good opportunity to briefly outline your query.

Service2 - BetUK

We asked the bookmaker about any potential VIP or Loyalty programmes it might have. However, we were forced to wait in a queue before we were connected to an agent. We were tenth in the queue to begin, and it took us 20 minutes to connect.

Service3 - BetUK

Once an agent had joined the chat, they immediately resolved our query. Their answer was succinct, and they provided everything we needed to know regarding the absence of a VIP programme. After we responded, they kindly asked whether there was anything else they could help us with.

This was a nice touch, but it’s hard to overlook the lengthy wait to connect when assessing the bookmaker’s live chat service.

Design & Usability
3 / 5

  • Minimalistic website
  • Technically proficient
  • Blog

Design - BetUK

  • BetUK’s website is slick and professional, with a blue and white colour scheme followed throughout. There’s a distinct simplicity about the site, but this ensures it operates at optimal efficiency and functionality. The technical performance was particularly impressive.
  • While the structure is a touch disorderly at times – football events aren’t well segregated, for example – we thought our experience with BetUK’s website was a user-friendly one.
  • On the homepage, casino games are prominent down the centre. To the right, you can access several ‘Account’ tabs, make a quick deposit and contact support. Your bet slip also appears on the right-hand side once you’ve made a selection. This aids the betting process.
  • Links to BetUK’s sportsbook, the bookmaker promotions and casino offering run down the left-hand side of the homepage. Help and information links are also found here.

Design2 - BetUK

While no statistics are available on the site, BetUK does have a blog. However, we found that this blog is infrequently updated. While a variety of sports are covered, including football, horse racing, golf and boxing, posts are sporadic.

Mobile
3 / 5

Both Apple and Android users can enjoy BetUK’s mobile app, which is available to download via both Google Play and the App Store. The app itself is very well brought together, facilitating a user-friendly experience for customers who want to bet on the move.

The app’s content isn’t too dissimilar from BetUK’s website, with the bookmaker’s sports welcome offer available to claim on mobile.

The coherent structure of the app allows punters to access all sports and markets in an instant. All products are accessible, too. We also have to commend what was a fine technical performance all around. Although, there are no auto, face or touch ID login options, found on many other betting apps.

Other Products

Other - BetUK

The bookmaker’s Casino offering is vast. BetUK’s homepage is casino-heavy, indicating just how much it’s emphasised upon.

The games offered include Slots, Jackpots, and Table Games. The list is endless within each. Live casino events are also accessible.

Regarding promotions, we discussed BetUK’s casino welcome offer in section three. Currently, there are no other casino offers for customers.

ThePuntersPage Final Say

Considering its recent inception, it’d be unrealistic to expect BetUK to trump some of the UK’s premier bookmakers. As it stands, BetUK still has some way to go before it’s recognised as elite. Nevertheless, this bookmaker is still a fairly attractive proposition for sports bettors. We were impressed by their football coverage, with a multitude of markets and sub-markets offered for popular fixtures. The bookie’s odds, meanwhile, are both consistent and fair. That’s a huge draw.

There’s plenty to enjoy with BetUK if you’re a novelty or esports bettor, while their emphasis on supplying a more than sufficient casino offering has paid off. We do hold some reservations, however. Firstly, the lack of promotions and offers are a concern. BetUK might find it hard to retain customers due to their lack of exciting and original bonuses. Also, their customer service was bereft of any efficiency.

Overall, BetUK is an okay option for sports bettors, when it comes to football, and casino. If those aren’t what you’re after, we recommend you look elsewhere.
