Tournament Structure for the Darts Player Championship
64 players make it into the tournament and they are placed in the draw depending on where they ranked in money earned from the 30 qualifying competitions. This is known as the Players Championships Order of Merit and is based on the 30 Players Championship events during the season.
This method is different from most tournaments, which use global ranking instead.
While Gerwyn Price is the world number one, he is only seeded eighth in this tournament. Damon Heta is the number one seed in 2022. The first two rounds of the tournament are the best of 11 legs before the last 16, and quarter-finals go up to the best of 19 legs. Both the semi-finals and final are played in the same session over the best of 21 legs.

Darts Player Championship Betting Tips & Predictions 2022
- Damon Heta is the top seed for this tournament and has the early draw to build up some confidence and get into a position to challenge for the title. The World Cup champion scores heavily and if he finishes strongly, then he can justify his top seed billing.
- Dave Chisnall has been one of the better players on the circuit over the last three months, and a TV title is the next step on his journey. He has reached the final here before, losing to Michael van Gerwen in 2016. He is a much better player now and with a kind draw he can go deep.
- Nathan Aspinall was the top seed until the last few qualifying competitions. The World Grand Prix finalist will start out as the third seed and also has an early draw he can capitalise on. We saw at the World Grand Prix that the longer the format, the better he gets; so if he can get through to round three, he could take some stopping.
- Ryan Searle was the beaten finalist in 2021 and has the sort of profile that can go well here too. He has a kind early draw, is a heavy scorer and usually finishes well. He is fairly local to Minehead as well and will have plenty of crowd support.
- Chris Dobey offered up signs of what he can do at the European Championship recently when he made the semi-final. He is another player who should be knocking on the door of a TV title. Dobey will be able to go under the radar for a lot of the tournament, and then when the heavy stuff comes along, he should have built up the confidence to have a big tilt at the title.
