2019 Gibraltar Darts Trophy Day 1 Betting Preview & Tips
The European Tour heads too Gibraltar this weekend and I have a double which I think is a really good value bet.
Darren Webster should be too strong for Nijman in the opening game of the day, whilst Justin Pipe's impressive 2019 should get better when he tackles Kim Huybrechts.
Webster takes on qualifier Wessel Nijman, a 19 year old with next to no experience on the big stage. His only European Tour match so far this year was a 6-0 defeat to Corey Cadby, where he averaged just 77.78.
Webster is not having his greatest year but has a yearly average of 90.38 so far, on that basis alone he should be far too strong. The World number 18 has also won 11 of his last 20 matches, and I am backing him to make that 12 from 21 today.
Justin Pipe's top form in 2019 can continue today. He has won 44 of his last 58 matches going all the way back to April, but more recently he's won 10 of his last 14 matches. He faces a weak opponent today who is on the slide down the rankings.
Kim Huybrechts is the opponent, and Kim has only won 24 of his last 58 matches this year. Unfortunately for him he just hasn't produced on the big stage and has really struggled, which has seen him drop outside the top 32 in the world. I fancy Pipe too get the better of him here.
Another factor in this match is Pipe's slow play. Kim is well known to dislike playing slower players as it ruins his rhythm of the game. Pipe is just that slow player that Kim will get frustrated by.
Overall this double represents a good bit of value in my opinion, I have Webster priced up at 1/5 and Pipe at 4/6 which means the double would be even money, but Betway are offering 7/4 on this double!
