Next James Bond Actor Predictions

The next James Bond actor odds are moving quicker than Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 through a Swiss mountain pass, which suggests that any noise surrounding the role is just that. But we’ve put our best foot forward here to show you who we think has the best chance of locking down double-O status in this legendary role.

Anthony Taylor-Johnson – 6/4 Favourite

We’ll admit, when Craig first announced he was leaving the role following the filming of No Time to Die in 2021, few would have had Anothy Taylor-Johnson as an obvious replacement. However, the 35-year-old’s stock has grown exponentially since then, starring in multiple action films, including Bullet Train and the brilliant Tenet.

When you dig a little deeper, he’s got all the hallmarks to be the next Bond. Charm. Athleticism. Intensity. Vital characteristics that you need for this gig. But what’s also interesting is that he’s recently signed a sponsorship deal with Omega watches, a brand synonymous with the franchise. It could, of course, be a coincidence, but there is no doubt that Taylor-Johnson is the outstanding candidate for the role and odds of 6/4, albeit shorter than Miss Moneypenny’s dress, still hold just enough value to get excited about.

Info box icon

Theo James – 4/1 and Shortening

Theo James comes in strong off the back of two brilliant TV series in The White Lotus and The Gentleman (a serious must-watch!). In fact, he’s trending so hard that the next James Bond odds were suspended as his dropped from 50/1 to 4/1.

James has the looks and persona down to a tee, coupled with a newfound diversity in terms of acting ability that was, prior to The White Lotus, questionable, shall we say. 4/1 looks like a delicate balance between a Skyfall and a Windfall, and even though his odds to be the next James Bond have drastically shortened, we’re anticipating they drop further, so get on this sharpish, as there’s No Time to Die for this James.

Info box icon

Jack Lowden – A 12/1 Darkhorse with Potential

Jack Lowden is now one of the favourites after his standout performance on the brilliant Slow Horses. Granted, it helps when you’ve legends like Sir Gary Oldman next to you, but still, his sharp wit, espionage credentials and Bond-Esque charisma look a great bet at 12/1. We feel that money might just start to pour in for Lowden, and his next James Bond betting odds have already shortened over the last few months. A one to watch, for sure.

This isn’t your typical sport or even novelty market where you’ve dozens of potential bets to choose from. Betting on the next James Bond is just that: choosing who you think will land one of the most significant roles in Hollywood.

There are several alternative betting markets to the main one, such as who will perform the opening soundtrack. It’s a huge gig that has seen the likes of Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Tina Turner, Duran Duran, Adele, and most recently, for No Time to Die, Billie Eilish.

A final market that some of the best next James Bond betting sites have is who will play the lead villain. This is arguably the most exciting role, and includes Le Chiffre, Mr. Big, Sir Hugo Drax, Rosa Klebb and Auric Goldfinger, to name but a few.

How to Bet on the Next James Bond Actor

It’s incredibly simple to bet on the next James Bond, but just to show you exactly how it’s done, we’ve created a step-by-step guide below. We’ve used one of the best next James Bond betting sites for this in William Hill, but the process will be very similar regardless of who you use.

What is Betting on the Next James Bond?

It doesn’t take a double-O to work out what the deal is with the next James Bond actor market, but we’re going to break it down for you, nonetheless. It’s all linked around the world-renowned James Bond movie, and which actor is going to bag the career-defining role to play the lead.

It’s a unique market, as unlike most sports that open and close within days or weeks, this one can remain open for months or even years. The current one has been live since 2021, and we’re still waiting on Eon Productions and Amazon MGM to finally announce who’s next.

The popularity of the market stems from the movies. The franchise is the fifth-highest-grossing of all time, generating billions of pounds since its inception in 1962 with the brilliant Dr. No. We’re now at a point where the next James Bond betting markets are some of the most popular in the novelty and entertainment sectors, all on the back of the success of the movies.

Who are the Current Next James Bond Candidates?

The field for the next James Bond candidate is vast. It includes actors from all walks of life, and William Hill, for example, has over 80 to choose from. Where do you even start with that? To break things down a bit, we’re going to preview a handful of the most likely options to be served a shaken, not stirred martini and why they’ve got a chance of a life-changing role.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

The Guardian reported that Taylor-Johnson was offered the role of Bond in 2022, which is likely one of the main reasons why he’s one of the front runners for the part. He’s no stranger to the physical demands of 007, and he was world-class in Bullet Train, which makes him an exciting prospect.

Theo James

The success of The White Lotus series has propelled Theo James with his next James Bond actor betting odds slashed on the back of it. He’s got all the suave and sophistication that Bond is famous for and has been priced as short as 8/11 to land the gig. He doesn’t have the same action pedigree that others have, so it feels like he might still be a wild card pick, even though he’s up there in the betting markets.

Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill is best known for his portrayal of Superman in The Man of Steel. Fun fact: Cavill auditioned for Bond back in 2005 and was pipped by Daniel Craig. He’s 40 now, and you’d think this would be a fitting age to take over one of the biggest movie franchises in the world. What makes Cavill an interesting pick is that the sale to Amazon might indicate that they’re looking for a star name, and there are not many bigger right now in the industry than Henry Cavill.

James Norton

James Norton has been floating around the conversation of taking the lead in the next James Bond movie for some time. He’s tall, handsome and the discerning housewives' favourite, which bodes well for the role. He’s best known for his TV roles in Happy Valley, Grantchester and McMafia. But the gaping hole in his resume comes from the silver screen, where he’s yet to nail a huge gig for a standout movie. This could, however, play into his favour if producers decide to seek talent that’s not already a Hollywood fixture.

Scott Rose-Marsh

Money has poured in for Scott Rose-Marsh, who is now the front runner with a lot of the next James Bond speculation talk on social media. What’s been most surprising about this is that he’s not really featured in anything of note, at least compared to the competition. There have been rumours in the media that he has already attended multiple auditions to land the role, and that producers are keen to start with someone with a clean slate. Granted, very much speculation at this point, and it would be an odd job to see him get the part, but an interesting one to watch on the betting markets.

When Will the Next James Bond Be Announced?

We don’t have a set timeline as to when the next James Bond will be announced, but we get the feeling that it’s sooner rather than later, so a late 2025/early 2026 announcement could be on the cards.

The announcement of Denis Villeneuve as producer in June 2025 means that wheels are in motion. Amazon MGM Studios won't want to wait too much longer to get the 26th edition of Bond locked and loaded, but the official word is still very much wait and see.

Daniel Craig’s announcement in 2005 led to the release of Casino Royale a year later. So, if our predictions are correct, then we could see a release date towards the back end of 2026.

ThePuntersPage Final Say

It's fair to say that there’s still a lot of uncertainty about who will play the role of the next James Bond. This will be Amazon MGM's first movie in the franchise, so they will want to make sure they get it right. What we do know is that the list of possible candidates is extensive, but incredibly exciting, and regardless of who they choose, the anticipation around the film when it’s eventually released won’t just be for your eyes only.

Next James Bond FAQs

The two standouts are bet365 and William Hill. The pair have the best odds between them for betting on who will be the next James Bond.

There’s a massive list of possible candidates, but the bookies have Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a strong 6/4 favourite. Others include Theo James, Henry Cavill, Jack Lowden, James Norton, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Damson Idris and Cillian Murphy.

There’s no release date for the 26th edition of James Bond, but we are expecting an announcement by the end of 2025 and production to take around 12 months following this.

Markets become suspended when there’s been an influx of bets, usually down to insider information. This might be anything from rumours of an actor having an audition or an interview given by a potential candidate for the role.

The main market for this is which actor will play the role. Additionally, some of the best bookies will have markets for who will sing the intro music and who will play the lead villain.
