Cricket Ashes Betting Tips
Given history, the Ashes will always be a high-profile event. However, in the past, there have been series which have been very one-sided when one team was flying, and the other team were in the doldrums. Despite the fact that the two sides were ranked one and two in the world, Australia won all the first three tests comfortably, on road to claim the Ashes. England rallied somewhat to claim victory in the Fourth Test.
We have followed both sides closely over the last 12 months in all formats of the game, paying particular attention to Test matches. And, after studying the first four Tests, we have come up with tips for the remainder of the series.
Australia to win 3-2
The moment has gone. An Australian Test team will always play with pride, especially against England. However, with the Ashes secured, the Aussies will be focusing on other targets. Meanwhile, England have pride to play for and, after a disastrous tour that saw them go 3-0 down, Ben Stokes and his team will want to salvage something. We think that they will get a second win.
Joe Root to be top England batsman
We backed Joe Root to do the business at the start of the series and, after an indifferent performance in the first Test, the Yorkshireman hit a superb century at The Gabba, his first ton in Australia. We expect Root to kick on from here having got over that psychological hurdle and we are tipping him to give the Aussie bowling attack food for thought.
Ben Stokes to be England’s top bowler
Given the short odds being offered for Brydon Carse, we recommend that you back Ben Stokes to be England’s top bowler. After a hugely disappointing series for England, Stokes will be looking to lead by example and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him produce a big performance with the ball in the 5th Test.
Most Popular Ashes Betting Markets
In order to make the most out of betting on the Ashes it is important to understand the betting markets available so that you can find the best value. We have outlined the key betting markets available at the best cricket betting sites for your Ashes online betting.
This is the most popular Ashes wager. You are simply betting on whether the Ashes will be won by Australia, England or whether the series will end in a draw.
Here you are picking a series winner with the bet declared void if the series ends in a draw.
If you want to bet on the result of the series but increase the odds then this could be the market for you. Obviously betting on the exact score is a tougher task than simply betting on the result. Examples of this could be England to win 3-2 or Australia to win 4-1.
This is a wager on who will score the most runs across the series. As well as the series overall, you can also bet on the best batsman for each team.
This is a wager on the leading wicket taker across the series. Like betting on the top batsman there are also markets for the best bowler from each team.
Remember that the bookies will be pulling out all of the stops with welcome offers and bet boosts throughout the series. Check out our guide to free bets and other sign-up offers with the best UK bookies.

The Ashes Series Information
The schedule for the 2025/26 Ashes series is as follows.
England has a poor record at the WACA with only one win in 13 Tests. The 2025/26 series will see a new venue in Perth, Perth Stadium, known as the Optus Stadium, used for the first time in an Ashes series.
The Gabba is not a happy hunting ground for England with only two wins since the Second World War.
The Adelaide Oval has been one of the more productive Ashes venues for England with nine wins and five draws from 31 Tests.
Melbourne has traditionally been a successful leg of the Ashes tour for England with 20 wins and eight draws from 56 Tests.
England has a good record in Ashes Tests at one of cricket’s most iconic venues. In 55 matches England had 22 wins and seven draws, an excellent record for a visiting team in Test Cricket.

Additional Cricket Ashes Betting Insights
Our cricket experts have looked into the form of both teams. They have analysed the performance of each team’s key players in order to come up with some more information which can help you with your Ashes betting. Remember that research is vital to any betting strategy so, building your knowledge on the Ashes is crucial.
Key Players to Watch
Ben Stokes (England)
The England captain returned to bowling at the highest level this summer with 17 wickets in the series against India. Stokes also hit his first Test century in two years and if he can maintain his fitness he could be set for a big Ashes series. Stokes can turn a game with bat or ball and the allrounder is a good outside bet for the top England batsman and bowler.
Harry Brook (England)
Harry Brook excels at getting the scoreboard moving in the middle order, a key component in England’s Bazball strategy. He is a decent bet to be England’s top run maker in the series and will provide excitement and entertainment with his aggressive style.
Gus Atkinson (England)
Surrey’s Gus Atkinson will add pace to the England bowling attack and is a good bet to be England’s leading wicket taker. Atkinson missed a large chunk of the summer with a hamstring injury but came back with a bang in the final Test of the series against India where he bagged five wickets. Atkinson will be fit and firing for the Ashes tour.
Steve Smith (Australia)
Steve Smith is currently ranked as the fourth best batsman in the world. He has a great record against England having hit 12 Test hundreds in Ashes matches. He is a good bet to be Australia’s top run scorer and his superb fielding in the slips will be a great boost to the hosts.
Pat Cummins (Australia)
Captain Pat Cummins is currently ranked as the fourth best bowler in the world. The Australian captain took his 300th Test wicket during a seven-wicket haul in Australia’s defeat to South Africa in the ICC World Test Championship final in June. Cummins is a great bet to be Australia’s leading wicket taker, and his captaincy will be crucial to the Aussies if they are to get the series win. Cummins is currently recovering from a back injury and it will be a major blow for the Aussies if he misses out. He will hope to be back for the third Test.
Josh Hazlewood (Australia)
Josh Hazlewood is currently 5th on the ICC world bowling rankings for Test matches. The paceman is a good bet to be the Aussies’ top bowler and will form part of a formidable attack for the hosts. However, due to injury, Hazlewood will play no part until at least the third Test.
Mitchell Starc (Australia)
Starc took 10 wickets in the first Test and the 35-year-old will be looking to continue this form throughout the rest of the series.
Travis Head (Australia)
A superb century in the second innings of the first Test fired the Aussies to victory. England’s bowling attack will need to find an answer to Head in Brisbane and beyond.
The Ashes Winners List
Australia retained the Ashes after the drawn series in 2023. Here are the details of the last three Ashes series.
The series was a tight affair which ended with honours even. The urn stayed with Australia who had won the previous series.
Australia dominated the series and held onto the Ashes with a crushing 4-0 series win.
Australia were decisive winners of the first test which had England chasing the series from the outset. With Australia being holders England needed a series win to win the Ashes back. Australia went 2-1 up in the fourth Test meaning that they were certain of retaining the urn. England squared the series in the final test to give a 2-2 overall score.
