As you can imagine, manually working out the returns will take a while and it’s likely you’d be error prone so we’d suggest using a tool such as BetVictor’s Bet Calculator that will automatically do the math for you.
Simply enter the prices of your 8 selections. Then enter your stake and it will show you what you stand to win. You’ll also be able to experiment with different outcomes to see how they affect the potential returns.
Why Place A Goliath Bet?
The potential returns of a Goliath can be extremely big and this is what makes them appealing. Of course, the same return on all selections can be achieved from a traditional 8-fold accumulator, but it would require all selections to be successful for you to win.
However, as you may have figured out already, a Goliath bet requires a big stake with there being 247 bets. Furthermore, this bet type does not include singles or doubles.
How To Place A Goliath Bet
We’ll be using Ladbrokes in our example although the process should be the same regardless of what bookmaker you use.
When selecting your 8 selections you do not need to worry about which order they appear. All selections occur the same amount of times across all 247 bets.
Step 1) Add your 8 selections to your bet slip.
Step 2) Enter your stake into the ‘Goliath' box (usually under multiples).
Step 3) Confirm your bet.
Named after the huge number of bets that together make this wager, a Goliath bet consists of 8 selections and includes 56 trebles, 70 4-folds, 56 5-folds, 28 6-folds, 8 7-folds and 1 8-fold.
The advantage of this multiple bet is that it has the potential to generate huge winnings. However, the disadvantage is that it requires a large stake compared to other bets.
