2025 John Deere Classic Golf Betting Odds
We’re so early with our John Deere Classic golf tips that the odds aren’t yet live. No need to panic, though, as soon as they’re released, we’ll take the best odds from our list of the best golf betting sites and enter them below. It’s probably worth bookmarking this page so you don’t miss them.
John Deere Classic Tips & Predictions 2025
Historically, the John Deere is a bit of a birdie fest. The course isn’t all that long (7,289, Par 71), and the Bentgrass greens are highly receptive. Couple this with the fact that the world's best golfers are in town and you’ve a classic putting competition.
Our John Deere Classic betting tips for the week are centred around exactly that. Distance only gets you so far, but if you putt well, you’re going to be the mix. David Thompson's record-breaking 256 in 2024 saw him gain 1.84 shots on the greens alone, and this is a theme we’ve seen consistently over the years, so why change what works? Here’s a look at who we fancy this week.
Denny McCarthy to Win the John Deere Classic
A curveball straight off the bat. We doubt that many will be tipping Denny McCarthy this week, but here we are. The 32-year-old is still looking for his first career win, and TPC Deere Run might be the tonic he needs to get going.
First off, he’s an incredible putter. Statistically, he’s the 7th best on Tour this year, gaining 0.74 shots on the green. He’s also had a remarkably solid 2025, with six top 10s already, just two shy of his total for the entire 2024 season. He’s had three top-seven finishes in his last three starts here at the John Deere, and if he can get his irons working from 150 yards and in, the putter will do the rest.
JT Poston to Win the John Deere Classic
“Hey, Siri. Define the word ‘solid'.” “Sure. JT Poston”. This guy is one of the most underrated grinders on Tour right now. He’s made 13 out of 14 cuts this season, without particularly excelling at any of the major Strokes Gained metrics and is exactly the type of player who can sneak a win this week with generous odds.
The famous ‘horses for courses’ applies to JT. He’s a past champion, with a breakout win in 2022, which he backed up with a Tied-6th in 2023. He was far from his best in 2024 and still finished Tied-30th. This is a similar pick to McCarthy, as the course suits him, and if his putter behaves, he’ll be right in the mix for his second win here.
Additional John Deere Classic Betting Insights
That’s a wrap on our John Deere Classic golf betting tips, but we want to arm you with the tools to form your own. To do this, we’ve included a couple of players to keep an eye on, each of whom narrowly missed out for our own tips.
We’ve also given you a run-through of how the course will play, specifically looking at what players will be best suited and nuances that you must consider for your bets.
Key Golfers to Watch
Our tips for the John Deere Classic are now live; here’s a look at some alternative key players to watch this week.
Sepp Straka
When discussing trending golfers, Sepp Straka is right up there. The Austrian is having a fantastic 2025, with two wins so far, including a victory at the Signature, Truist Championship. He has had 12 top 30s from 14 events already, mainly due to his elite ball striking, as he currently sits second in Strokes Gained: Approach. If his putter behaves, he generally performs well, and given his form, plus the fact that he won here in 2023, he will be among the favourites in the John Deere Classic betting.
Akshay Bhatia
It’s crazy to think that Bhatia is only 23 and already has two wins on tour. 2025 has been a mixed year for the American, but it still includes three top 10s, including a T3 finish at The Players Championship. He’s an elite putter, and that’s why we think he’s got a shot this week. If you can get John Deere Classic odds at around the 20-30/1 mark, this will offer excellent value.
A Deep Dive into TPC Deere Run: Course Analysis for Punters
As much as the organisers would like to tell you that TPC Deere Run is one of the toughest tests on the PGA Tour, it’s not. It’s more akin to shooting ducks in a barrel, and the best in the world take apart the 7,289-yard, par-71 track year in and year out. In fact, with its 36-yard-wide fairways and receptive greens, it averages 73% for greens in regulation, some 7% above Tour average. In short, it’s a birdie fest and at best, a putting competition for the guys at the top.
The rough has been grown out in recent years to add some teeth, but even now, it’s not overly punishing, with a missed fairway penalty at a paltry 0.28 strokes. Key statistics for the week are Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Putting. Over 60% of approach shots are from 150 yards and in, which is a wedge for most pros. Look for players who rank well for proximity to the hole, as this will significantly help here.
In terms of quirks on the course, the par-5 2nd and 17th are absolute must-birdie holes, where making par means losing shots to the field. You also have the drivable par-4 14th, which used to be a risk-reward hole, but now most players grip it and rip it, creating another birdie opportunity.
What’s the John Deere Classic Prize Money?
The John Deere Classic prize money is set at $8,400,000 for 2025. The winner will walk away with a cheque for $1,440,000, making it an attractive prospect for the field. It’s worth noting that this is not a Signature event on the PGA Tour, but it does still include 500 FedEx Cup points, in line with the likes of the RBC Canadian Open and Rocket Classic.

John Deere Classic Golf Betting Markets
Most PGA Tour events come with a ton of markets to bet on, and the John Deere Classic is no different. Below, we’ve included a look at how the popular and slightly obscure markets work this week.
This market is where you bet on the overall winner of the John Deere. For example, if you back Denny McCarthy (our top John Deere Classic prediction) to win at odds of 20/1, a £10 bet would return £210 (£200 profit + £10 original stake).
An each-way golf bet is where you split your stake between the win and place market. For the place bet, the odds will be a fraction of the win price, and the golfer must finish within a set number of places. For example, £10 each way on JT Poston at 30/1 means that you’ve £10 on the win at full odds and £10 on the place (usually top 5) at one-quarter odds, meaning 15/2 for this bet.
A bet on a player to finish inside the top 5. The bet wins if they come 1st–5th (including ties). Similar markets exist for Top 10 or Top 20 finishes. Odds are shorter than outright, but the chances of winning are higher. For example, Aaron Rai at 6/1 for a Top 10 Finish means you profit if he’s on the first page of the leaderboard come Sunday.
Wager on who will be leading the tournament after the first round only. This can offer long-shot odds and quick returns by Thursday evening. Remember that dead-heat rules usually settle ties in first-round leader bets.
The bookie pairs two players (or a small group), and you bet on who will finish best out of them in the tournament. For example, a McCarthy vs. Poston match bet involves betting on which of the two has the lower total score for the week. These are great if you have a strong feeling that one player will outperform another, regardless of their overall finishing position.
Like match bets, but for a given round. Players are grouped (often in threes for the first two rounds, hence “3-ball”), and you bet on which player posts the lowest score in that round. For example, in a first-round 3-ball of Straka, Glover, and Rai, you might back Rai to shoot the best score of the trio at, say, 2/1 odds.
Wager on a golfer to be the best finisher from a particular country or region. Common markets include Top American, Top European, and Top Rest of World, among others. In a John Deere Classic field dominated mainly by Americans, a Top European could be an interesting option – for example, backing Aaron Rai as Top UK/European at a favourable price. He’d need to beat all other Europeans in the field, regardless of overall position.
Bet on a player to either make the cut (play the weekend) or miss the cut (get eliminated after Friday). If you think a favourite might falter, “Miss Cut” can yield value, or conversely, “Make Cut” is a safer, low-odds bet for consistent players. For instance, you could combine several strong cut-makers into an accumulator to boost the odds.
Predict how the tournament will be won, be it by a certain number of strokes or via a playoff. The bookies often offer options such as “Playoff”, “1 stroke”, “2 strokes”, “3+ strokes”, etc. The John Deere Classic has seen everything from dominant 8-shot wins to nail-biting playoffs, so this market can be a fun side bet. A small stake on “Playoff – Yes” can add excitement if things tighten up on Sunday.
These can include various fun markets, such as Hole-in-One (will any player make an ace during the tournament?), Albatross (also known as a Double Eagle), the lowest 18-hole score, or even Wire-to-Wire Winner (a player leading after every round). The John Deere usually features a hole-in-one each year, so some punters take the Yes bet at around evens.
