UEFA World Cup Qualifier Betting Tips
There are plenty of outright bets available – two examples being group winners and teams to finish in the top two. You can also bet on individual matches, with all the usual markets available with the best betting sites. Check out the latest World Cup odds and compare different bookies to find the best prices.
Here are a couple of outrights that have caught our eye.
Wales to finish in top 2 of Group J: 2/5 BetVictor
Wales currently sit in second place, though Group J favourites Belgium are in third, three points behind with two games in hand. The Welsh are a point behind surprise leaders North Macedonia, making the clash in Wales on November 18 crucial. A late Kevin De Bruyne winner in their away tie with Belgium was damaging to Craig Bellamy’s side’s hopes, but we feel that they will do enough to grab a playoff place, even though we think that Belgium is likely to overhaul both them and North Macedonia.
Republic of Ireland to finish in top two of Group F: 1/1 William Hill
Many bookies fancy Portugal and Hungary to take the top two places in Group F. However, the Republic of Ireland could be in with a shout. Fixtures start in September, and the Irish will be buoyed by their Nations League wins over Bulgaria in March. They followed this up with two draws against Senegal and Luxembourg, while Hungary was swept aside by Turkey over two legs in the Nations League and lost to Sweden before beating Azerbaijan in June.
Portugal are clear favourites to win the group, but we feel that Heimir Hallgrímsson's side can make the playoffs, giving good value to those even-money odds.
Research is Key
Just like club football, research is critical to success when betting on the World Cup Qualifiers. While there may be less data available, but ThePuntersPage Stats hub still provides a wealth of useful information.
You also need to look at other variables, such as the Club World Cup and the effect that consecutive summers of tournament football could have on some of Europe’s top players. This might lead to a few upsets, especially in the September and October fixtures.

Qualification Format Explained
The qualification format has changed slightly, due to there being 16 places for UEFA affiliated associations in the expanded World Cup, as opposed to 13.
The qualifying group stage features 12 groups of four or five teams. The teams will play each other home and away. The winner of each group will qualify for the FIFA World Cup, while the second-placed teams will progress to the play-offs, along with the four best-ranked group winners from the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League that finished outside the top two of their group.
The play-offs will be made up of 16 teams. They will be drawn into four paths which comprise two rounds of single match play-offs, semi-finals, where seeded teams have home advantage and finals where the hosts are drawn. The four path winners will qualify for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Check out our World Cup page for betting on the finals.
