It’s premier league vs championship here and Chelsea could be looking to utilise their strength in depth in order to succeed in the FA cup. Nottingham Forest themselves will be looking to go as far as possible in this tournament.
Chelsea failed to beat Southampton last time out but did dominate that game to some extent. With top 4 not a certainty Maurizio Sarri should be aiming for a serious tilt on this trophy. They’ve not had it all their own way in this competition though, who can forget their 4-2 defeat to Bradford City at Stamford Bridge a few years ago.
Aitor Karanka has come under a great deal of pressure over the past month or so but some of that was relieved as his side defeated top of the table Leeds United 4-2 on New Year’s Day. The Forest hierarchy invested plenty in the summer and top 6 was the minimum target and that’s still achievable with the Tricky Trees currently 4 points of 6th place Derby.
Forest games are volatile in how many goals occur in their games. They’ve had a few 0-0’s and 1-0’s but they’ve also had a 4-2, 3-3 and 5-5 in recent times. They will be tested to a much greater extent against Chelsea though and with their defence being unreliable I can’t really make a case for them.
Chelsea have attacking injuries with Pedro, William and Olivier Giroud ruled out. The likes of Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alvaro Morata could be a few to come in.
Nottingham Forest have plenty of injuries. Michael Dawson, Michael Hefele, Sam Byram, Hilel Soudani, Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Diogo Goncalves are unlikely to feature.
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Kepa, Zappacosta, Luiz, Christensen, Emerson, Kante, Fabregas, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Morata.
Potential Nottingham Forest Starting XI: Steele, Darikwa, Fox, Figueredo, Osborn, Bridcutt, Watson, Lolley, Carvalho, Dias, Murphy.
- These two met in the EFL cup in 2017, Chelsea ran out 5-1 winners Nottingham Forest are one of the most ill-disciplined championship side with 65 yellow cards and 1 reds this season.
- Chelsea – 1/4
- Draw – 6/1
- Nottingham Forest – 14/1
Forest have plenty of injuries and Chelsea have players who have to make a point so I’m expecting a home win. 1/4 quotes make no appeal however so I’m going to dive into SkyBet’s request a bet market for a 13/8 shot.
The bet is ‘Chelsea to score 2+ goals and Nottingham Forest to pick up 20+ booking points’.
Forest are a dirty side and are more than happy to make tactical fouls. If they stay in this game for a while they could get a few and therefore I’m also happy to have a go on Forest to pick up 30+ booking points at 9/4 which is also available with SkyBet.
The Trent club are averaging 2.5 cards a game and are up against some tricky players who could have a technical advantage over the visitors. If you’re new to booking points 10 are handed out for a yellow card, 25 for a red and 35 for two yellows resulting in a red.
